I recently stayed one night at Ludington Pier House motel, and its location is indeed excellent, just a few blocks from downtown. However, my experience was marred by several issues. My room had a strong musty odor, which smelled like untreated flood damage, and maintenance was clearly lacking. The bathroom light switch didn't work properly and would not turn off the bathroom lights, which was inconvenient. Additionally, the outlet near the TV couldn't hold a plug securely. While I didn't visit the pool, I've heard positive things about it.
Given the state of the room, I would have considered it fair if the nightly rate was around $100. However, at over $200 per night, I would expect at least basic maintenance to be up to date and not to worry about potential mold.
The interiors of the building are quite dated, seemingly unchanged since the mid-nineties, which can be charming, but I would have appreciated better cleanliness or a lower price.
Overall, the motel has potential but needs improvements to justify its current rates.
