We were on the third floor, and there is no elevator, so it took a while to get our stuff upstairs. I have some hip and balance problems, so it was difficult to get into the shower (a raised tub with no handrails). Also, the shower did not have a place to put the soap or shampoo or conditioner provided, so I took advantage of my wife to be the "soap dish".

A museum-like interior with extensive 19th century collection of furniture and arts. Owner offers tours providing details about the house and collection. Our individual room was gorgeous and comfortable, with modernized spacious bathroom. There is no TV (which was fine for us) but had stone wifi connection. House offers books, board games, and snacks. Morning breakfast was incredible, based on recipes consistent with the period of the late 19th century. Best of all was the conversation with the owners, which expanded my breakfast well beyond clearing of the breakfast table! Jim and Jan were perfect hosts, and return trips will be forthcoming!

This is a beautiful B&B FULL of antiques. It is truly unique but not for everyone’s taste. It’s called a museum and it truly is! If you want a Victorian experience, this will be perfect for you. A very formal breakfast too. The breakfast was beautiful and good. A true treat for people who love this kind of stay. The owners were so nice.

Jan was an excellent hostess and an awesome chef! We had things for breakfast we never would have had otherwise. We had the pleasure of meeting Jim on our arrival. We also met Natasha who helped Jan serve breakfast on our second. On our third day, there was another woman helping Natasha serve breakfast, but I didn't get her name. She was just as lovely as everyone else. We enjoyed meeting Abigail and Jose. We saw the tortoiseshell kitty (Sophie??) who loved to be outside. The place was beautiful with plenty of Victorian items to see. I think we could go back over and over again and still see something we hadn't already seen before. The place was quiet and serene, we didn't hear any of the other guests. All in all, it was a grand slam find and we would recommend The Dempsey Manor as a great place to stay in Manistee!

Oh so nice 19th century B&B
It was very enjoyable. The home was so full of interesting antiques, felt like a well kept museum. Was especially nice having modern bathrooms.

50 year reunion, everything perfect.
Jan and Jim are the best. Jans breakfasts change daily and are delicious. Antiques abound. Rooms perfectly appointed and comfortable. Close to beaches and city center.

The building is an excellent example of turn of the century architecture, the staircase was magnificent but, the decor was overdone. Every room was crammed with articles (some fit the period and some were just clutter). Our room had no lock on the door, we did not feel safe. Would not return.

It is a historic Bed & Breakfast. The staff is friendly and the food is great. The house is full of history and relics. The furniture and decor is dated to the period. I would stay here again. PArking is limited.
