This hotel is such a gem! The rooms are all unique, the pool is refreshing, and the food is delicious! I did not realize prior to booking that the hotel has their own small farm, and most (if not all) of the produce comes from their own gardens. Everything we ate was delicious! But most of all, the staff is absolutely wonderful! Everyone was so accommodating, helpful, making sure we were well looked after, well fed, and happy. The property is located on the West Bank, so it’s away from the city, and peaceful and quiet. The hotel can arrange a taxi for you anywhere you need to go. Don’t hesitate to stay here, it’s a fantastic value for your money.
The property is gorgeous. Management and staff had me feeling like a VIP. Everyone was attentive and friendly, while maintaining professionalism. If I go back to Luxor, I will definitely stay here again.
West of Nile is the less developed, and cheaper side of Luxor. you can walk by the Nile to the barges crossing the river or rent a small boat, both cross the Nile to Karnak Temple the Soak, and the museums. everywhere you see canals, farmers and their clay houses and it is very safe. fantastic site seeing (valley of the Kings , Hiba temple, and lots of others within 15 mins taxi ride), there are also the early morning hot air balloons which are a quiet and safe way to beautiful views. I did an hour excursion on the desert motorway to Dandara temple near Qana, an extraordinary place for a mix of old Egyptian and Roman artistic feel. Luxor is a small town with a very good airport, dominated by the smell of villages and the great Nile. nothing matches such combination of history, countryside and sun.
There are scheduled power outages which we learned about upon arrival, don't plan to be there between 4-6 pm. Limited dining and transportation options nearby however I am sure the staff would be happy to help you. The hotel restaurant charges in USD, hotel food pricing. On our first night, one of the hotel team tried to convince us to book activities with them by telling us that our existing organized excursion was unavailable (which turned out to be misinformation). I did really like the area, but it is hard to find for drivers. Quiet, many guest houses and more of a local village feel but you may feel limited without an organized driver due to its location.
The hotel is a beautiful oasis in the city. It's large central courtyard is perfect for dining or just relaxing. Restaurant for was delicious and wholesome. Our room was unique with a large dome in the ceiling. The staff were always helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.
Really nice, quiet and friendly hotel hidden away on the West Bank. Not an awful lot to do in the vicinity, the West Bank is a rural area of dirt tracks and banana fields so not easy to walk to anything else. However, It is an easy took took ride to the ferry, which takes you to the east side and the city proper. The staff were always helpful, arranging taxis and took tooks and offering advice. The food was all tasty and the pool was a welcome respite at the end of the day. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
The hotel manager Saeed and his staff provided excellent service and additional assistance with booking excursions such as a Nile cruise, travelling to east bank of luxor and purchasing spices from a local vendor. The hotel is clean and the room is spacious with a nice view of the nile and the hotel garden.
We booked half board and the breakfast and dinners were varied and freshly prepared with some ingredients from the hotel garden like banana, mango, arugala, coriander, lime and okra. Should I return to Luxor I would book with Howard Carter Jewell of the Valley again.
I visited with my spouse for a couple of days. She mentioned this was one of her favorite stays of all time Sitting in the quiet evening eating a leisurely meal at the restaurant while watching different boats go up and down the Nile was memorable. It was also a welcome escape from Cairo and Luxor cities. The staff was nothing but gracious and kind. Service was top-tier and food was good. It's not too bad getting back and forth across the river - we'll worth it to experience the peace of staying here.
Nice location, surrounded by banana fields and orchards. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean.
We had some problems with a guide, but the hotel staff helped us as soon as we contacted them.
This hotel is located on the other side of the Nile where all the actions are so it is more quiet. However is can be very inconvenience to get around at night when you can't cross with the boat. It's very isolated and this hotel charge too much for the shuttle where you can get a taxi for a fraction of the cost. Food was pricy but good.
Tips: CRUISE $45-$55USD/night/person (most cruise are the same stander, don't let them talk you into "5 star" it's NOT), HOT AIR BALLON $40-$50/person. 8hrs PRIVATE TOUR with driver for 2 people $60-$80USD (make sure to ask for someone who speak clear English). These price are as of April 2022 ask around or the host, Mohammed. Make sure you bargain. You must bargain for everything and anything in Egypt. You should definitely do the cruise. It's includes all meals and excursion, you just need to "tips which is expected".
Overall we find the people of Egypt are not very friendly, they just want your money. We booked a 13 nights in Egypt but we were able to do the cruise see all the temples and pyramids so we left after 9 nights.
We left after 1 night , problems with toilet , shower and other stuff ! Stale bread served with breakfast ! We made a serious mistake in booking this place !
This was the best property I stayed in during my vacation in Egypt. The hotel was clean, the atmosphere was relaxing, and all of the staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming and they treated all the visitors as if they were Family. Also the food was amazing the evening meals tasted great. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying at Luxor.
Thanks.
David
Your stay was perfect. Hassan the host/care taker was lovely, very accommodating and friendly. He even did our laundry! We had the whole place to ourselves and the facilities were in great shape, lovely pool.
This hotel was truly a wonderful experience. Howard Carter Hotel and Guest house was located a little far from main town Luxor, which we were originally a little sad about, however, after two minutes of arriving we realized this was best. It is so quite around the hotel, and the staff members make it so easy for you to get around that you really don't feel as if you are missing anything! The tours they set up for us were incredible, Mohammad was funny and courteous, and the guide they hired the second day was very intelligent and interesting. We were so sad to only have book one night at the hotel once we realized how wonderful it was. Also, while they don't have a restaurant, if you order dinner or breakfast (you have to do this in advanced) you will not regret it. The chef cooked up the most amazing and delicious meal that we got to eat in the privacy of the dining room (dinner) and out on the terrace overlooking the pool and the Nile (breakfast). Everything in the hotel was spotless and up-to-date. This was truly a five star experience. Thank you for everything!
Management and staff went out of their way to provide a wonderful experience at the “Jewel of the Valley”. Fresh lemon and mint from the garden on arrival; exceptional quality and care from the dining room. Meals overlooking the Nile River.
The property was very well maintained and the staff made us feel welcome.
I will recommend the Jewel of the Valley to all my family and friends!!!
This is a great little hotel the service was great price fad and the food was great on the opposite of the river away from all the hassle don’t book anything till get inside hotel as siheed will help you as you are close to valley of kings balloon Ect quiet at night you can just chill by the pool great value solo traveler made welcome thank you
On a whim, we decided to fly from Cairo to Luxor in January 2019. I found the Jewel on Hotels.com and booked two rooms. We sent a message to the hotel asking if they could pick us up at the Luxor airport and also find us an English-speaking guide. Not only did they pick us up promptly and transport us to the hotel but once we arrived , they welcomed us with open arms and treated us like royalty--- preparing a breakfast on the balcony. I'll admit that I was a little concerned on the road to the hotel. At one point I'm not sure the road was even paved. But once we arrived, I realized what a hidden jewel this place is. There are only about 7 or 8 rooms each with an Egyptian name ,not a number. Each is unique The place was exceptionally clean and the rooms had very modern bathrooms, complete with 6ft long bath towels, blow dryers, and wonderful showers. This is a QUIET setting with pastoral views and the Nile stretching out behind the green fields. Very relaxing and very accommodating staff--chef prepared lovely meals served out on the veranda and the manager was very attentive, The chauffer also helped at the hotel and after our meal, prepared a campfire and brewed Egyptian tea for us in the flames and we sat around the fire outside talking and listening to music. They drove us around everywhere the next day and we had a great guide too. (Be sure to see Karnak Temple!) The pool looked pristine but weather was too cool when we visited. Very reasonable prices too!
