Constructed in 1927, The Church at Lyonville is a thoughtfully converted country church where you can experience the old-world charm of a treasured historic building and enjoy living slowly amidst the simple beauty of its natural surroundings.

After turning down a tree-lined country lane you will find the Church sitting quietly on a gentle rise surrounded by a private garden of mature trees, perennial plantings, and curated spaces that showcase the garden’s stunning seasonal expression.

Inside, the Church’s treasured historic features sit easily alongside all the modern comforts. You enter the nave to find rich timber panelling enveloping the room with tall golden stained-glass windows framed beneath a soaring raked ceiling. This characterful and comfortable living and dining area is where you can share meals with family or friends, gather around the wood fire heater or simply enjoy the magic as the afternoon light bathes the space in a soft golden warmth. The historic features continue through the original building with the alter panelling skilfully transformed to form part of the kitchen and the original confessional now converted to a walk-in pantry. Full of thoughtful details, the space is completed with modern necessities – a large wood heater, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped kitchen.

The Church accommodates up to six guests across three bedrooms, each with large comfortable beds. On the loft, a spacious bedroom offers a charming space overlooking the nave and views down to the outdoor deck and gardens from its own hinged stained-glass window. The two downstairs bedrooms also have views through the gardens to neighbouring fields and the forest beyond. A modern bathroom is fitted with a walk-in shower and a separate spa bath, while a second powder room offers additional convenience for guests. The outdoor bungalow contains a selection of outdoor furniture and lawn games so that guests can make the most of the serene private gardens.

Opportunities for exploring the region abound - the nearby village of Trentham with its historic town main street and many attractions is five minutes by car while Daylesford and all it has to offer is only a 10-minute drive away. For those wanting to experience the surrounding natural beauty, the Trentham - Lyonville walking trail through the Wombat State Forest begins not far from the Church near the famed Radio Springs Hotel, or you can follow one of many walking tracks up to the nearby Mount Babbington. For different scenery, you may choose to meander down the country lanes past Lyonville’s small farms and charming rural properties towards the farther fringes of the Wombat Forest.
