Terrible Experience – Avoid This Hotel
We booked Wahdat Khair Hotel in Makkah for the last 10 days of Ramadan, but it turned into a stressful and frustrating experience. We arrived around noon, only to be told we had no reservation. They claimed they had no system to check. After showing my confirmation and some back and forth, they finally said we had a room—but couldn’t check in until 4pm. We left our bags and went to perform Umrah, returning after midnight.
A new set of staff gave us the same runaround, then sent us to another hotel with a room that smelled awful. My kids were visibly uncomfortable. We tried to settle in, but the shower barely worked. I called the agent who sent us to a third hotel in another neighborhood. We had to take a taxi, only to be told we couldn’t check in until 2pm the next day.
Frustrated, I contacted Expedia. The hotel lied and said we were offered a room and refused. To prove them wrong, we went back again—only to be told once more that no reservation existed. Expedia eventually moved us to a hotel in Aziziyah, far from the Haram. We stayed one night, then had to find another place ourselves.
This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. No coordination, no honesty, and no basic hospitality. Do not book Wahdat Khair Hotel unless you want your trip ruined.
