Hotel Ivania’s in Masaya is actually a big house converted into a bed and breakfast. The rooms are tiny and plain, but the beds are very comfortable. The pool is small and we didn’t dare to jump in since the water seemed stagnant.
Hotel’s employees are extremely polite and they are always willing to help. There’s Wi-Fi in the rooms, although somewhat slow. Breakfast is free. We didn’t discover any good restaurant in the vicinity, so we took a taxi –which are inexpensive– to the eateries in La Colonia shopping center or to Narcy’s Restaurant on the highway to Managua.
If you are visiting the Mercado de Artesanía in Masaya, Hotel Ivania’s is a good place to spend the night. But if you’re planning a longer stay, you might consider a hotel in Managua or Granada, which are just a 15-minute drive from Masaya and have very nice lodgings. Or you can go to the beautiful Laguna de Apoyo, in Masaya, with very good hotels and magnificent views.
