Downtown Manteo with Secret Garden

Welcome to the "Downtowner". A truly inviting, enjoyable home away from home. This one bedroom suite with separate living room is located as part of a historic home built in 1901 in the town of Manteo with a little bit of everything for you to enjoy. This spacious property with its own porch and entrance. There is one king size bed, a complete tile bathroom with a walk-in shower and a relaxing living room for watching a movie or catching up on emails. The coastal decor and tranquility of the garden will relax you the whole time you're here. The porch is located next to a spacious back yard with a folly for your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. There are lots of locally owned restaurants in the area for your dining pleasure. The unit's kitchenette consists of a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Downtown Manteo is home to Outer Banks Distillery, Ortegas Southwest Grill, The Avenue Grill, Olives, Poor Richards, Old Town Creamery, Front Porch, Charis Coffee Shop and The Pioneer Theater with a nightly showing at 8pm. Nearby is the Elizabeth II at Festival Park, the NC Aquarium, Elizabethan Gardens and The Lost Colony outdoor drama. Cute and great location!
Not having used a non-hotel lodging arrangement before, we were cautious about staying in one. I chose this property based on the attractive pictures and excellent reviews, which did not disappoint. The property was so cute and exactly as the pictures show - very clean and well decorated, with older home charm. We liked the location, the area was quiet and walkable to downtown Manteo, and just a quick drive to Nags Head attractions. We enjoyed this more than a generic hotel and felt we got more for less money, and would stay here again if we travel to the area.

Extremely clean with beautiful landscaping and immaculate yard with exterior gazebo and covered porch. Both the gazebo and porch had chairs with small table. Interior has both wood siding and wood floors with throw rugs. A real gem near downtown Manteo.

We love this place. The property is so well kept with a little area to sit on the porch. It has a separate bedroom from the living room and it’s so comfortable. It is a short walk down to the Manteo waterfront for food and shopping and right across the street from the Outer Banks Distillery.

Manteo is a quaint little town along the sound. The Downtowner was in walking distance to shops. It was a great place for a quiet get away for two. The location was also easily assessable to the beach area and restaurants across the bridge!

Awesome Anniversary Weekend
Richard is an awesome host and was always in communication with us especially with Tropical Storm Idalia that went thru 48 hours before. You would never knew it came thru the Outer Banks. The place was very quite and wonderful for us. Walkable to the down area to eat and enjoy the local festivities. We will be back .

Just Perfect!
We loved our stay in Manteo and this guest house was clean, well-decorated, well-appointed, and perfect for our stay. The bed and furniture were very comfortable, and the garden is peaceful. We loved all of the shops and activities in and around Festival Park and the waterfront. The beaches are a quick drive across the bridge, as are many wonderful restaurants. We will return!

Great Vacation
We have been vacationing at the Outer Banks for over 30 years. We have always stayed on or near the beach. We would always spend time in Manteo, so this time we decided to actually stay in Manteo. This 2-room unit was perfect for my wife and myself. It was very clean and well decorated. The garden area was beautiful. All communication with the owners was pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay in this unit again!

I don't write reviews unless they either don't meet my expectations or they really exceed. Otherwise I feel they are just fluff. This one is a great place. The first thing my wife always does is check for cleanliness. She was VERY PLEASED with the unit. There is everything you would need for a stay and we stayed a week. We loved how quiet the neighborhood was. I was a little concerned with parking on the street, but after seeing we were next to a police station, I felt so much better. There were zero issues and I didn't have a single worry about it. The area is really great. Your first thought when staying in the Outer Banks is to be on the water or Nags Head. I can say that the drive over to the beaches and other activities is not inconvenient at all. It is totally worth the ride.

Cozy and inviting stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this special place in downtown Manteo. The space with nicely decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the location and the proximity to all points of the outer banks. There was plenty of room in the living area and the gardens are gorgeous and well-kept. It is a real gem and look forward to a return trip!
