The Good:
- Property is good size with updated furniture
- Very clean
- Property lot is large and has good inside and outside living spaces.
- Internet is included along with Netflix
- onwer was responsive to requests and communication
The bad:
- The water is ok for swimming, but there are lots of weeds and zebra mussels. The best area for swimming is the sand bar in Crowe Lake, but you have to canoe for about 15-20 min to get there.
- Only one canoe is provided which is not sufficient for a large group
- Bedroom with bunkbeds is more like a closet
- Another bedroom is actually two day beds in the dining room area
- only 3 bedrooms have closets
- 2.5 bathrooms for 20 people is insufficient
- No access to laundry to wash towerls, for this size property, this is a bid disadvantage
- Limited access to supplies, owner provides limited cleaning/bathroom supplies.
- no cushions are provided for the outdoor furniture.
The ugly:
- The water smells! This was the biggest issue we had. Luckily, a Brita filter can sufficienly clean the water for drinking, but showering and washing hands and face in this water is awful. The owner should provide Brita filters for guests instead of asking them to bring drinking water.
We were a group of 17 people (4 families) that stayed for a week. The property certainly fit our group and had enough living and sleeping areas for everyone, including outdoor living space. Outdoor activities are ok, but with only one canoe, we couldn't be on the water together. Swimming wasn't the best off the dock, but we made our way to the sandbar at Crowe lake which is a great swimming area. We also used the bridge next to the property to dive into the water (about a 10' drop). The water is deeper and clearer.
The owner was responsive when I communciated with him. I was really surprised at the limited amount of cleaning supplies provided (no kitchen towels, no lysol, 12 dishwasher pods to be exact). For a large group and after Covid, I can't imagine a property not provided sufficient cleaning supplies.
Two adult life jackets were missing which the owner supplied the next day and also brought in a Nespresso machine which was nice. The onwer asked to buy my own Lysol wipes/disinfectant and he would pay me $20, but he never sent the money as promised. This property has great potential if the owner invests in a couple of kayaks, more cleaning supplies, access to washer/dryer and water filters.
