Excellent stay near Effigy Mounds
We had a good night in this hotel. It was clean, the staff were all friendly and helpful, the breakfast was fine (what you expect….eggs, sausage, cereal, juice…). For me, the bed was too soft, but not uncomfortable. We would definitely stay again!

No frills, but decent hotel
Decent hotel for the price. View was a retaining wall. Train was loud, thankful we brought a noise machine. Clerk was friendly but awkward, she mostly complained about her job and told us she was counting down the minutes until her shift ended.

Lack of available parking. Hotel lot holds 15 spaces to park. Many have to find parking on city streets. One block from hotel is a railroad crossing. Trains come thru multiple times during the night. They blow the horn loud and long thus disturbing sleep.

Showing its age
We stay at this motel at least once a year when travelling along the Mississippi River. Parking is very limited, which we knew about. The trains travel by numerous times a day. Once again, we knew that and I personally like the sound of a train. The problem, our room was FULL of boxelder and lady bugs when we go into our room. We cleaned them up numerous times in our 2 day stay. The motel is starting to show its age. The beds were made sloppily, but were comfortable. The shampoo pump in the shower was so low, nothing would come out. The front desk person in the morning was fantastic. She was friendly and could carry on a conversation easily. Kudos to her.
