Maison de la Grotte is a peaceful gite in the heart of Perigord Noir. We are located in the 'golden triangle' of the Dordogne, just 40 minutes from the beautiful medieval towns of Sarlat, Perigueux and Bergerac.
The gite is on a property of 3 acres, and has a completely private garden (featuring its own cave!) with direct access to a stunning heated pool of which you have sole use. We live in a house on the property, and we respect your privacy but are on-call if you need any assistance.
The space
The gite is a completely renovated beautiful 200 year old property. Featuring a large living area and brand new fitted kitchen/dining room (with downstairs toilet), the accommodation also boasts two double bedrooms, both with ensuite shower rooms. The master beamed bedroom has a queen (160cm) bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. Outside, there is a large, completely private garden with three patios, one under the cover of a large awning. There is direct access to the 11x5m salt water heated swimming pool. We provide all bed linen, towels and pool towels. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the entire property.
Guest access
Access is via a front gate from the road with plenty of parking (at least 4 cars) at the bottom of our orchard. Access to the gite is via a wide lit pathway along the side of our main house. Whilst our hamlet does not have any shops, the town of Le Bugue (10km away) boasts several excellent supermarkets, local food shops and bars. The immediate neighbourhood has stunning scenery, perfect for walks and bicycle rides.
Other things to note
The gardens and pool are completely private and not overlooked, our house is on the property opposite the courtyard. The gite does have quite a few steps so is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility. This is a lovely old property and the ceiling height in the kitchen is 194cm. We welcome dogs but if you are bringing a pet please do discuss with us first (as we have a cat).
