Lovely hotel, beautiful setting. Tranquil, chilled. Breakfast is amazing, as is the food we ate in the restaurant. The room is fine but slightly dated. Apart from that a lovely one day two nights stay here.

The hotel is very well maintained and the rooms are in separate blocks a short walk through the (lovely) garden to the restaurant and pool beyond. It is in a colonial style and sits off the main country road which is busy and has a mosque so be aware of the calls to pray. There is nowhere worth walking outside, but otherwise this is a very relaxing retreat. 🙂

I booked 1 bedroom family suite and they gave me a studio. I am not happy for not getting what I paid. After I spoke to the The front desk, she told me that the room that I booked from Expedia was a studio and that’s what they gave me. She was very short and just want to ended the conversation by telling me to call them again if I still have a problem without tried to find the issues or trying to resolve the issues. After my check in review submitted. Apparently the owner of the facility trying to spoke to my brother whom I booked the room for regarding my review. I traveled at least 4 times a year domestic and internationally mostly booked my hotel through the Expedia. Year’s been using the Expedia, this is only 2nd times that I have an issues with the hotel that I booked. Beside issues with the room, I think they were happy with their stays.

Hidden gem in Medan
I enjoy my stay really much, the hotel is far from noisy places and really peaceful, lots of greeneries and for small hotel like this surprisingly they provide a good food with a reasonable price.

Lovely hotel. A real delight. Attractive grounds with trees & shrubs and even 3 geese! Really nice clean swimming pool. Good service and decent food although we felt it was a little expensive, and not really anywhere else you could walk to easily for dinner.

Amazing escape from the busy city!
Absolutely floored by our experience here. It was so relaxing to escape the urban madness of Medan and relax in a little oasis. The hotel grounds are surrounded by natural beauty, touched with historic European/Indonesian charm, and a perfect place for families. The staff was professional, kind, and the owners were fantastic people. Next time we are in Medan, we are coming back!

A very quiet place in the middle of a big city,

A Welcoming Oasis of Calm
Amazing staff, very welcoming, some of the best I've ever seen, and with a good restaurant. They have put in a lot of thought as to how to make the stay better for their guests including giving you insect repellant when at the restaurant to keep the mosquitos away (necessary). They've also implemented a few sustainability changes, such as a water bottle that can be refilled at the restaurant, and refillable toiletries, which are both great changes to normal practice. The hotel is a beautiful oasis of calm and tranquility in a very busy and hectic city. Would definitely recommend it. The only drawback is the local area, a busy and polluted city with traffic jams nearly constantly. Away from the city and you can soon get into rural life, which I much prefer, Lake Toba and Sipiso-Piso waterfall are spectacular!

Very nice hotel with great staff and good food
On our 2nd night there, at about 10.00pm, one of my grandson had every high fever and I called the front desk to ask whether they can get a doctor to come and in 15 minutes the owner and the doctor was at the door. Thanks to the doctor, the next day he was himself again. The following day we were able to carry on with our travel to Lake Toba. We hoped the hotel staff, owner and the doctor are able to see this, Thank You So So Much!! Regards, Harold Tan

A real hidden paradise
Head south down the narrow cluttered main road out of Medan, and you wonder what you’re coming to - but the surprise is wonderful. Turn off the road, and you head down into a verdant garden valley, with the main Hotel and restaurant on one side, and the ‘cottages’ on the other (actually small mini duplexes, each with its own balcony). Rooms are restrained and stylish, with plenty of local touches, and the level of equipment is good, as is the Wi-fi (sadly, unusual for Indonesia where speeds are often slow or minimal). I didn’t have time to try the restaurant, as my Indonesian hosts were determined to squeeze every last minute out of my 2 day/3 night stay. But breakfasts were a delight, served on the airy terrace and featuring plenty of local ingredients, from fresh tropical fruit to home made pineapple muffins and vegetable spring rolls. Strongly recommended for a relaxing getaway not too far from the bustle of Medan city

Hotel located midst of Medan more or less village sort, but hotel facilities, service, cleanliness and staff service excellent. We stayed for 2 nights which was pleasant and we will be visiting again.

Great and relaxing stay in Sumatra!
Staying at Deli River Hotel was surprisingly pleasant due to the nice natural settings. I enjoyed the food of the restaurant that was always fresh and tasty. Furthermore, a note of appreciation goes to the staff who was always kind and keen to solve any problem. I would definitely recommend spending a couple of days in Deli river hotel!

Seclusion in a frenetic city
This wonderful country hotel is recently built and offers comfortable secluded accomodation in an otherwise busy city. Rooms are built in small units on the side of a small valley, on the opposite side is the restaurant complex and beyond that a pool and small terraced garden with views of the Deli river. The staff are extremely helpfull and friendly, the food was excellent and if you needed it there is a convenience store nearby with atm. This hotel provides an excellent oportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of Medan while retaining the option of a short taxi ride to its centre.

Oasis in Medan
Medan has very few redeeming features, being just the gateway to Sumatra's wilderness attactions, but if you have to stop there then Deli River Hotel is an oasis in a hell-hole! It's a hotel you really need to spend several days/nights in to get the most out of it. The grounds are gorgeous, and when you're floating in the lovely swimming pool, you can almost not notice you're in a noisy, polluted, chaotic city. Their associated travel company provided a very good vehicle and excellent driver for a two day trip we took to a specific area of interest south of Medan.
