We booked the hotel for our 19th wedding anniversary. We arrived early but understood that the room wasn't ready until 3pm check in time. However, the room wasn't properly cleaned. My husband returned the two glasses of different sizes back to reception as they were dirty. The coffee mugs, also different sizes, had been rinsed but not dried and were very wet inside. The kettle was full of water. There were cobwebs on walls and windows. The bath was sparkling clean, but the basin tap was so loose it moved when you tried to turn the tap and there was no plug.
The bedroom decor (room 320)is bland and boring, with soft furnishings reminiscent of an old fashioned retirement home.
The bed was superking, two singles pushed together but not zipped and linked. But it was comfortable and the linen was clean. There were 4 wall lights in a row above the head of the bed with dreadful pink shades and the fittings needed tightening to the walls as they spun around if touched. The bulbs must also have been the lowest wattage possible!
Most staff were lovely and there was a nice view of the river.
We had dinner and food was average, service a little chaotic. However, breakfast was not cooked to order as expected but buffet style. If we'd been made aware, we'd have arrived at service time at 0730 to eat whilst it was hot. We arrived at 0830 and it was barely warm. Breakfast finished at 0930.
All in all, a disappointing stay and not worth £152 a night. We wouldn't stay here again or recommend.
