Excellent hotel! Rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. Pool was also clean and well-maintained. Breakfast was good with multiple options and great service. Downtown is easily walkable and there is a pizza place around the corner. The block is a bit dark but seems perfectly safe. Overall, a great experience here and I would definitely return!

Overall it is a nice hotel
The hotel is nice and the staff is friendly, however we have terrible WIFI in our room. First we were told it was because of the rain but it didn't improve on very clear and cloudless days.

Merida is a wonderful place, but Hotel Maria Jose made it even easier to enjoy. They provided everything we needed while we were there. It is located just one block away from the main area of Centro Historico, and this ended up giving just the right mix of privacy while still giving us the ability to walk to anywhere we wanted to go. My family and I don't speak Spanish that well, but the staff was patient and accommodating as they helped us. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the pool was a great way to relax after a long day in the sun. In addition, they converted our US dollars into pesos, set up taxis for us, gave directions and recommendations, and served a delicious breakfast. Last but not least, we were able to book amazing tours directly through the front desk. All in all, they helped give us a fabulous vacation!

Nice place & fairly close to main square. The pool was nice & they provided pool towels. They didn't do lunch or dinner even tho the QR code in the room said they did. Breakfast was a separate menu as it was an included rate & it was fine but maybe at least one of the waiting staff could be a little happier.... The room was nice, large & fine for the money & I would stay again

I love the fact that this hotel is close to a lot of the major attractions in downtown Merida. If you seek a full cultural immersion experience with the ability to walk to some of the best sights, parks, events, restaurants, and shops, staying at Maria Jose is a great choice! I will definitely stay here again when I return to Merida!

The location was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. An earlier check-in would be nice although it was helpful that they stored our luggage until we could check-in. It would be helpful to have a mini-fridge and/or a coffee maker in the room.
