I recently stayed at Camino Real CDMX and had an overall great experience. The hotel’s ambiance is beautiful, the staff was attentive, and the location is ideal for exploring the city. The food at the on-site restaurants was excellent, and the amenities were well-maintained. My only complaint was the bedding—the sheets felt rough, almost like sandpaper, which took away from the comfort of the stay. I hope they consider upgrading the linens in the future because it would make a significant difference. That aside, I enjoyed my time here and would consider returning if the bedding is improved.

Some things I hated, some things I liked
I wasn't prepared for the intense atmosphere with all it's space, stores and restaurants, it was like a creepy charged atmosphere in which I was very uncomfortable and on guard not to be taken advantage of. If you ask for anything, you end up having room service deliver it. Our room was 1117, which I assumed was on the eleventh floor (having just arrived) and, since at check-in no one told me which way to go for my room (I'm expected to use a bellhop?), I asked which was to the elevator. Instead of telling me that my room, 1117 is on the first floor, she just told me how to get to an elevator. Check-in couldn't have been less friendly or hospitable. Awful! I hated the place instantly. Plus, there is a renovation so we had already had to climb a bunch of steps and turn this way and that just to get to the lobby! Again, I guess at this hotel if you don't feel you need a bellhop, no one will even tell you how to find your way! As I say, I hated the place. Once we were checked in however, we never had to deal with that whole horrible atmosphere in the lobby and restaurants. We found an entrance/exit near our room, our room was near the pool, the room was nice and spacious, the cleaning people were excellent. The location meant we Ubered a lot but it was pretty good.

The Camino Real is a great experience for grand Mexican architecture, space, grace, friendly service and a good location in Poland’s, near Chapultepec Forest and the famed museums of anthropology and of modern art. The hotel’s dining options and buffet breakfast are varied and great. But pretty swimming pool was so heavily chlorinated and heated that it caused a skin rash. The rooms are large with lovely views - the garden rooms - but the furniture is old and sometimes dysfunctional (drawers that don’t close, Eames recliner that does not recline), and the carpets old and musty. For the high price tag, the Camino overall needs an update, but it’s a comfortable reliable and spacious stay specially for seniors.

The hotel is fantastic, and the staff was polite and willing to assist in any request we had. Amenities at the hotel (restaurants, cafes, shops, gym) are great; and the location is unmatchable, closely located to shopping, tourist attractions, and museums, I will definitively stay there again.
