A great disappointment
Hello Paul,
I said I would let you have my comments of our rental of your house in Mezin over the last three weeks, I will start off by saying that you are a very welcoming host with a wonderful knowledge of the area and events going on thereabouts.
First impressions are very important when one arrives at a rental property and the first thing we saw as we drove up the drive were 2 cement mixers, 6 wheelbarrows, a large amount of builders’ staging and scaffolding, a discarded barbecue, a vehicle tyre, a radiator, and general rubbish.
At the drive side of the house there was another discarded barbecue, a large metal tank and a black tank full of water and plant life. There was a set of vehicle jump leads just outside the cellar door which was never closed the whole time we were there. The open door looked onto a complete litter filled dump area.
At the rear of the house on the terrace was a pleasant wooden dining table and chairs; unfortunately, the view from the terrace was of a garage or barn type two storey building full of even more heaps of builder’s materials and tools just piled up in a haphazard manner. The doors of this building were permanently open. Between this building and the plant room for the pool was a large at least 2 meters by 3 meters reinforcing grid for concrete, a ladder and some timber. Beside the plant room was an open fronted storage area a decrepit garden tractor, an old vehicle tyre, several chlorine tablet containers and general detritus. There is a fishpond with green stagnant water, which had a pump with it’s power cable cut, just sitting on the edge of the surrounding wall. This would have been a pleasant enhancement to the terrace area if the water feature had been working.
On the other side of the house was a discarded deep fat fryer and a brown plastic tub.
Further along this side of the house was a paved path from the laundry room to the clothes line, several of these paving stones were broken and uneven and loose a real trip hazard.
I think you will agree that the first impressions do not conform to your description of a “Village luxury holiday retreat”
Inside the house I will make the following comments: -
LOUNGE
A nice room, comfortable furnishings, shame all the curtains were hanging off their rails.
KITCHEN
A good sized kitchen, well stocked with cutlery & crockery. Good quality cupboards. The cooker only had two gas rings that would stay alight, (To be continued)
