We were welcomed by a friendly night manager at the desk, the room was clean (although we had to fix a blackout curtain upon arrival), and the bed was very comfortable. Good coffee and hot breakfast. As other reviews have noted, there is no elevator.
I noticed the security door lock was missing, but we were too tired to ask for a different room by the time I realized it.
It turns out that I should have gone to the trouble. I was getting ready to take a shower in the early morning when one of the cleaning staff opened the door to the room. We were both very surprised! He apologized and left immediately. (Close call. If it had been a minute later I would have been naked.)
Lesson learned for us to make sure the security lock is working on a hotel door, but in this case it likely would not have mattered because we had each been in and out at different times for coffee, breakfast, etc.
I voiced my concerns to the desk attendant when we were leaving. She said it was her fault because our room number was mistakenly on a list of people who had already checked out. The other person at the desk mentioned the security lock was on a list of repairs and she would remind maintenance to get on it. The attendant apologized, but made no effort to go the extra mile to make it right.
A very disappointing turn of events for what would have otherwise been a pleasant stay. We will be back to visit the area, but we won't be staying at this hotel (or any other Days Inn) again.
