Nice stay
Very friendly place, areas of the hotel are a little tired, however clean and good staff
There were obviously problems caused by the pandemic but the hotel handled the situation efficiently.
Parking is a significant problem for the hotel and although we managed to un-load and load the car at the start and end of our stay, we had to ignore a 'no-parking' sign to do this. At other times we had to park and pay in the village car park, about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Not ideal!
The hotel is well situated in Dunster, which is a pretty village, away from the busy A39, surrounded by wooded countryside and overlooked by an attractive castle and grounds..
Very spacious room, bed very comfortable. Very clean. Staff were really nice, friendly and went the extra mile. Only the food at the hotel was a bit of a trip back to the 70s b&bs but since staff and location was good we do not want to dwell on it.
The hotel is located in an old building in a 17 century village. Consequently, it is not “up to day” but it it well appointed, serves excellent food, and has a very helpful staff. Our room was very comfortable and we had an enjoyable stay.

Lots of character and great location. Traditional restaurant outclassed by local options.
one night stay which was just fine. Very old historic hotel but the room was very comfortable. Staff friendly and efficient. Restaurant menu was a bit limited but we ate at one of the fine restaurants in Dunster. Breakfast was good. Parking is always a problem in Dunster but they gave me a voucher for free parking in the municipal car park which is close. All in all, very pleasant.

Yarn Market Dunster
Dunster is a delightful medieval village in Somerset with one of the best National Trust sites in the region. The hotel was ideally placed for the castle and provided a number of local walks with maps. The room was clean although the bathroom was small but was fine for a couple of nights. Only drawback was the lack of blackout curtains allowing the sunrise in from 5am. Breakfast was buffet style and excellent value for £10.
We were warmly welcomed on arrival. Parking is not always available but we didn't have any trouble, anyway there is the village car park just around the corner and one we used the hotel's permit to park there overnight. Our room was spacious, very comfortable (the chairs) with a wonderful view across roofs up to the castle. The room was clean and we were well looked after during our 6 day stay. Breakfast is served 8-9.30, as much as you want though the hot food is not so hot always but well cooked and very tasty. Tinned fruits, cereals, yoghurts, toast, croissants, rolls etc. Great. One of us ate a couple of times in the restaurant which was really nice food. Often the owner would come round at breakfast and chat to guests which was really nice; he knows the area well and has run the hotel for many years. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend the hotel and the village for a wonderful holiday.
Absolutely the best place part of out trip so far.
A great place to stay and see the surrounding history. Comfortable room, great food at The Yarn Market Restaurant, very well looked after. The most beautiful village we've seen on our trip so far. Also enjoyed lunch at The Cobblestone Cafe with Gluten Free food. The Dunster Castle and gardens is a must see type of place, donated to The National Trust by the Lutterell family in 1976, the Castle farm is still a hive of activity as a working farm.
The Yarn Market Hotel is a very quaint place. My family (8 of us!) stayed here and really enjoyed it. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, ensuring our rooms were comfortable (even switching rooms for my parents so my brother could stay with them in a suite with separate room), offering tips on things to see, and assisting. The internet is not very reliable and the decor is a little outdated, but I found this to contribute to the charm of the old world. The rooftop garden area was absolutely incredible. Would absolutely stay again!

Dunster hotel
Brilliant place to stay geographically. Staff friendly and helpful and great breakfast.
However room was small and a little tired - bathroom furniture cracked and brick dust from drilling which wasn't cleaned. Lumpy mattress.
A nice hotel right in the middle of the very pretty village of Dunster. A little pricey for a midweek stay, the dearest of the four hotels we used last week. Large room with two chairs and table which was nice. Comfy bed though not the kingsize we were expecting. Cooked to order breakfast which was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had the most amazing view from our bedroom. We could sit in bed and look directly at the castle and from the other window we were looking directly at the Yarn Market! We could look out across the roof tops of Dunster and see the smoking chimneys in the evening with hear the church clock chiming, a beautiful place of calm and tranquillity.
All of the staff were kind, friendly and very helpful. The food was of a high standard and not over expensive. We would love to go again!
well it was new years eve..staff very helpful... the only thing we were sorry about was the fact we could not eat in your lovely restraint because there were no facilities to eat without jaz... such a pity
