I really wavered between 3-4 stars. This inn seems to be trying but struggling to figure out its niche.
Pros: location, near lots of restaurants, large rooms, grounds/public spaces, overall cleanliness
Cons: thin sheets/bedding, lack of finishing touches in rooms, not overly friendly, knowledgeable or accommodating staff and charges with no benefits. I don’t mind paying an extra free for additional amenities, but when the restaurant is closed both nights of our stay and the weather is too cold to enjoy the pool then it bothers me that we would have to pay a destination fee. The only option we had to eat at the restaurant was breakfast and we don’t normally eat for breakfast. I did order coffee both mornings. The first morning, the young lady was nice and eager to make us a good americano but the next morning we got an older gentleman and when he brought my coffees I tried mine and it didn’t taste right. I clarified with him that he did make me an americano. He could see I was not enjoying my coffee at all and he just said, “yeah, it is” and turned around and walked away.
Honestly, the best part about this inn is the great restaurants off property within a very short walk along with a great brewery. The Irish Pub: O’Callaghans was great.
