Room renovations are good. But services have been greatly reduced. The price however is a good value for what you are getting. Nice large and comfy rooms. They are very dog friendly

Could have been better.
Booked a room with double beds, when we checked in, they claimed only single bedrooms availability. Very inconvenient as I was traveling with a friend and didn't want to share a bed. In addition, did they start the next morning at 9:30am with heavy constructions (sawing, drilling), so much to peace and quiet. I noticed also during breakfast that people compliant about the coffee, as it took forever to have the container refilled. As I don't drink coffee no problem for me, but you could see the frustration in the eyes of the caffeine addicts. lol Nice Hotel but given the experience I would be looking for alternatives next time. Nicely located, nevertheless.

The location was fantastic, just a stone’s throw away from the coastal trail. However, the WiFi was abysmal and unreachable. They attempted to resolve the issue by rebooting the router near our room, but it made little to no difference. The room had a cable TV (non-smart, without streaming services like Netflix, HBO, or YouTube). Additionally, there were leaks from the ceiling in certain areas, particularly in the corridors and the parking lot. It seemed that the hotel was undergoing renovations, and as a gesture of goodwill, they compensated us for the inconvenience by refunding the parking fee.

The breakfast was very lousy for this expensive of a hotel. They offered boiled eggs and cereal. You have to pay for parking which I find ridiculous because you’re parking at their residence. You pay $300 a night and still have to pay for parking. There was also ants in my room. I was on hold with the front desk for almost half an hour too.

Run down hotel
It seems like this site over-rates this hotel. Check out TtipAdvisor reviews for more accuracy. The positives of this hotel were the gas fireplace in the room, location, and a decent breakfast selection. Negatives were that it’s pretty run down and in need of some repairs and renovation. It was also the noisiest hotel I’ve stayed in - the person above us walked around until like 1am and every footstep was echoing in our room. We could hear our neighbors through the door. The floors were dirty in our room and the bathroom had popcorn all over it still when we arrived. There is definitely a smoky smell in the room and a weird smell in the bathroom. They were also doing remodeling on the room across the hall and it was so loud!! The pull out couch was awful for my kiddo, super thin with springs poking her. The king bed was just ok. Housekeeping took hours to bring us sheets and pillows for the couch bed and I had to call and ask 3 times. We parked on the street which is okay if you are gone all day, as it frustrated me to have to pay to park in the garage. If you are okay with more of a historic hotel with character then this is for you. It feels old and is walking distance to a lot of cool stuff, and a quick drive to other stuff. Not sure I would stay here again unless the prices are deeply discounted.

Overall, a good property and for the money its ok. Nothing too fancy and no real complaints either. Super close to Aquarium and Carmel is only 12 minutes drive. Breakfast can improve really.

Nice location near downtown, need to park on street parking unless paid extra money, glad that many parking spaces on the street. Room is big and clean, as described. Staffs are nice, but always only have 1 person in the front desk, not very efficient. Overall a good hotel with discounted rate.
