This hotel is beautiful and perfectly located in the harbor with excellent amenities, not to mention very dog friendly. If your visiting Monterey Bay, this is the place to stay (a bit pricy, but so is everything in Monterey)

I recently stayed at Monterrey Portorla, and my experience was a mixed bag. On the positive side, the amenities were quite lovely, and the property itself is visually appealing. The valet parking service was excellent, making it easy to come and go without hassle. However, my stay was significantly marred by some serious issues. First and foremost, my room had a considerable infestation of black ants. This was particularly inconvenient as they invaded my food and even made their way into the bathroom. I reported this to the front desk, but the problem lingered, detracting from my overall comfort. Additionally, I found the pricing to be quite steep compared to other hotels in the area. For what I paid, I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and service, but unfortunately, this was not the case. There was no breakfast included, which is typically a standard offering at many hotels, and I was frustrated to find that bottled water in the room was charged at $5—something that feels excessive given the overall experience. Overall, while Monterrey Portorla has some appealing features, the pest issue, high pricing, and lack of attention to cleanliness significantly impacted my stay. I hope they can address these problems for future guests.

What's not to love? We had a lovely stay....easy parking, quick and efficient check in, the bellhops were extremely nice, friendly and helpful, dinner and breakfast at Jack's Restaurant on premises were excellent, great lounge with a huge, beautiful recessed in-wall fireplace with great choices of beverages. We loved our stay! Walking distance to the large farmers market on Tuesdays, near great eating and drinking places. We'll definitely be back!!! Thank you to the entire staff for making our stay memorable!

The rooms were pristine, beautifully furnished, clean. However, the hotel is awkwardly spread, and felt like a maze (long hallway as we were offered a quiet room all the way to the end of the building). Lobby is beautiful and inviting.

Excellent service. Every staff member I had contact with was happy and helpful. Room was in above satisfactory condition. The exercise room could use more free weights, but will do for a road trip workout. We will be back.
