We arrived in Montpellier before lunch, a room was available, and it was assigned to us without having to wait until 3:00 pm. Very nice. The hotel is 3 minutes walk fro. Train station.

Great hotel in central area.
What a find. Very comfortable and homely. Lovely bed pillows and soft fluffy towels. Rooms tastefully decorated and the restaurant area very stylish and eclectic. Loved the afternoon tea and cakes on offer and super helpful receptionist. Only downside is if you have a car! Parking offered nearby at special rate but the drive to get there was a bit stressful! Loved the city too!

Really good experience at Royal Hotel. The hotel and the room were super clean. Staff were nice and always happy to help. Best thing about the hotel is the location. Walkable distance from the station (5min walk) and from Place de la comedie and city center. One drawback was that the bathroom didn't have a shower.

Really great hotel right in the heart of Montpellier, surprisingly quiet given the location, easy walking distance between the train station and the heart of the city. The staff very friendly and aside from the bathrooms which really need updating, the room was big and comfortable.

Warning to North American travellers: Sad to say, but hotel turned out as real disappointment. Initial reaction was good due to convenient location between train station and Place de la Comedie, but A/C and ventilation system in room broke down on 5th evening with temperature at approx 34 degrees (93 fahrenheit) outside, plus humidity. Hotel front desk confirmed they had no maintenance staff during evening. We asked to be moved to a new room for 2 nights left, but front desk said hotel fully booked. Only option offered was a stand-alone oscillating fan - with no guarantee maintenance could repair a/c he following day. Given hotel decision, we decided not to risk for 2 night left and checked out. We move to Mercure hotel nearby. To note: Hotel Royal manager refused to consider any type of partial refund for 2 nights left or any alternative solutions. I would not/not recommend Hotel Royal if you go to Montpellier.

What a quaint and charming hotel! Great location, very helpful and friendly staff and everything was so clean! Extra thanks to Jesse (the night manager) who helped us set up a card game with wine in the lobby lounge without hesitation. A fabulous find and I’d highly recommend!

An ideal hotel in the centre of Montpelier. It combines tradional elegance with superb modern accommodation and facilities. The staff are especially friendly and hospitable. Definitely stay here.
