Chestnut Lodge, Northumberland

Chestnut is a Heidi style log chalet, set in the quiet grounds of Felmoor Country Park in Northumberland, with lakeside views - it is the perfect place to escape. With it's own hot tub, you won't want to venture far, but if you do there is loads to do and see in Northumberland.

It's a two bedroom chalet style cabin - you walk out the front door onto your terrace where you will also find your hot tub. Both have lakeside views, making it the perfect place to kick back and watch the world go by, in tranquil surroundings.

Inside you have a beautiful wooden appearance, with a wonderful feeling of peace as you walk through the door. There are high Cathedral style ceilings, two bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), a family bathroom with shower and fully fitted kitchen. The open plan living space makes a perfect place to come together.

If you fancy a meal out, then there are some amazing restaurants not far (within a few miles) and we would be happy to recommend some for you. There is also a small clubhouse/cafe on site, perfect for when you simply want someone else to do the cooking. (Opening times depend on the time of year you visit).

It's ideal if you are looking for a great place from which to explore Northumberland, yet still have luxury surroundings and somewhere to relax after your busy days out.

It has its own parking and is fully fitted for a comfortable holiday. There is plenty to do and see in the area and there is wildlife surrounding the cabin, so it's a real country retreat.

The closest beach is just five miles away and has the most amazing golden sand and sand dunes for the children to explore. There are magnificent castles, quaint little towns and villages and of course the home of Harry Potter, Alnwick Castle.

You are welcome to bring your dogs too, up to 2 dogs welcome. (small charge)

Lovely lodge
Really lovely lodge in great location. Hot tub was amazing and it’s a great spot by the lake. A little small for four adults perhaps but great for 2 adults and 2 kids. We had a fantastic weekend

Spotlessly clean
Really enjoyed our stay, the property was spotlessly clean on arrival. The only downside was the location of hot tub - guests from other properties were constantly walking right past the tub in order to get to the other side of the lake. A privacy screen would make a huge difference.

Comfy log cabin for newly weds and their pooches
What a great place to set up camp to get you where you need to be! Wendy the host communicates well with you through your entire booking. We had all the amenities we needed :) The log cabin is a little cob Webby in places, but that's to be expected in the middle of trees! It's warm and inviting :) the shower is great! Hot tub is cosy and well maintained and ready for you to jump right in (no jumping, as stated by the rules ;)) Welcomed to a card and a couple of bottles of bubbly. If you want something welcoming, comfortable and somewhere you're not scared of putting a mug down and making yourself at home. This is it :)

Enjoyed our stay but the place is in need of some TLC. Not worth the booking price.
We received a welcome pack of doughnuts, crisps and a bottle of Prosecco which was a nice touch. However the lodge is in need of some TLC. On arrival the fridge light was flickering. It was inspected that evening and was told a bulb would be replaced but it wasn’t. During the four days, we found the fridge wasn’t working efficiently and not keeping food cold. Kitchen units very old, couple of doors not fit properly- grill pan rack missing, pizza tray needs replacing very heavily stained, washing up bowl stained needs changing. Fridge drawers dirty., we cleaned them and informed the property manager. Shower shabby, broken trim on bottom. Outside cobwebs everywhere, patio dirty with green gunge especially around the hot tub. Driveway dirty with duck poop, no brush to clean as this was broken at the side of property.

Could be beautiful
Beautiful location and property if it was clean! Cobwebs everywhere old sellotape where decorations have been. Quilts all stained. Spare dinner plates etc chipped and dirty. Cooker hood absolutely rotten and drainer flooded all bench space. Hot tub dirty and decking area could have looked more inviting. Bathroom needs attention and cleaned. It was cleaner when we left than when we arrived.

Amazing!
We have just had the most wonderful stay at Chestnut lodge. Beautiful location ideal for touring Northumberland, Scottish Boarders & Cumbria. Wendy has been so helpful and kind. The lodge was beautifully clean and perfect for us, as a family getaway. The hot tub added a touch of luxury and was enjoyed by all! We should definitely love to return to Felmoor Park & Chestnut Lodge.
