About this property

The Mountain Farmhouse @ Crystal Spring Farm

Beautiful restored 1855 Farmhouse w/ original post & beams in idyllic Vermont setting located between Stowe, Smugglers Notch & Jay Peak. This property offers peace & quiet in the heart of the Green Mountains & the Craft Beer corridor. Crystal Spring Borders a large trail system w/ plenty of space to snowshoe, cross country ski, bike, take great walks or just enjoy the countryside. Located 10 minutes to Morrisville and 15 minutes to downtown Stowe.. Great energy flow, plants, amazing sunrise and sunset views, a true oasis for the heart and soul.

Crystal Spring Farm was a working dairy farm until the 1970s and offers an authentic Vermont experience with a renovated hand hewn post and beam open floor plan. Situated on Mud City Loop, which is known for its charming, tranquil Vermont feel, the farmhouse feels like home the moment you arrive. While the house is connected to the grid for power, has DirectTV for entertainment, and DSL internet for streaming and work, the large solar panels create excess power which is fed back to the grid, called 'net metering'.

The entire house and 5 acres are available for you to enjoy. There is a humble work out area in the basement, a screened in porch and large patio in the back, a beautiful zen like front porch, and an outdoor hot tub*.

In the winter our road is well kept, but 4 wheel drive is strongly recommended as wintery conditions often exist. There is a two car garage to protect you from the elements when you come and go.

*Hot tub is $25/day for power/cleaning/maintenance

Weekend get away
The property & house was amazing, the perfect set up for a stress free weekend getaway. The kids aging 2-8 all loved being able to take a short walk to the farm down the road or the river! Would totally recommend and we can’t wait to make it our annual family trip!

nice with some fixable issues
I first want to say there was much about the house and our stay that was positive. The sun porch was what most invited us to visit and it is wonderful. We were grateful for the kind gifts of natural bug repellent and maple syrup that greeted us. The manager was helpful-especially when the code to open the door upon arrival was incorrectly provided and he was available to give the correct one right away. However, we expected three usable bedrooms and our experience was disappointing. The master bedroom downstairs has a comfortable memory foam mattress and an air conditioner. But the only open-able ventilation were double doors looking out onto a beautiful view. There was no screen door to allow it to stay open safely. The manager tried to solve the problem by installing a soft, zipper screen that was open on the bottom. We tried using duct tape to close it but it did not feel secure enough as an actual screen door would. I hope the owners install one for future guests. We used the upstairs bedroom which had a very low opening for the bathroom door and my husband (6' tall) and son banged their heads a few times. The slanted ceiling in the bathroom as well made it very uncomfortable for anyone taller than 5' 5". The two upstairs bedrooms could’ve also benefited from more screens, which we were told were around but could not find. Overall, there is much positive to be said for this rental but we would have preferred an easier experience for our vacation.

great place to stay near Stowe and Morrisville
We enjoyed our stay at the house. The hosts and were great. The house was very clean. We liked the quiet and peace. They have blueberry and raspberry bushes there to pick from if in season. The whole house is well stocked with things you might need like kitchen supplies. It was about 20-25 minutes to Stowe depending on traffice. It's also about 25 minutes to Craftsbury outdoor center if you cross country ski or mountain bike. Good for families or couples looking for quiet retreat.
