The house was clean but if you don’t speak Swahili, or you are a traveler from outside the country, I would recommend to have a second thought.
First of all, it was very difficult to receive the key of the house. The number I was given was not reachable on the day of arrival, even after the time of check in. At about 18pm we could reach another number of the lady who actually has the key. She works at a town which is 12km away from Moshi town, we had to wait for her work to finish, then come to Moshi. Finally we arrived the compound at about 8 o’clock in the evening we were completely exhausted. We found out that there is no water. We even did not have water to flush the toilet. Water came out at 2 o’clock midnight, so we had to wake up and carry baskets to store water.
The gas cooker had no gas, so we had to use the one with electricity; it took so long time to cook. During cooking the electricity had gone, because pre-paid power bill was finished . I was even surprised the lady said ‘the cost for the electricity is not included, so you have to go and buy the pre-paid “luku” vocha’.
However the second day things went well. That was, I thought, a very Tanzanian way; we had lots of difficulties but as a whole family we had a very good time.
