We were just passing through Myrtle Beach for a one night stay. Parking to check in was inconvenient. Construction noise was bothersome. I was given a room on the 4th floor right next to the site with construction work. The crane with pile driver was creating a loud repeated banging which was intolerable. I called front desk/operator and she was not friendly. Her response to me was "What would you like me to do?" I found that unhelpful and unsympathetic to a problem which they are fully aware of. So how else to respond to that but with sarcasm and say "well then I would like you to put a stop to it." Which she said she couldn't do. So I asked what are the options and she said she can move me. We had already unpacked so it was a hassle but the new room had reduced noise and better beach view. The remainder of one night stay was better. Without the noise I would return and stay here again.

Dayton House is our go to place to stay when visiting Myrtle Beach. We discovered it a few years ago on a girls trip and have been staying here since. Though it smaller than some of the it other resorts, it makes up for it in service, location and an excellent full service breakfast included in the stay.

Check in was easy and we were assisted quick (can also be done via app/kiosk). Enough parking available. Went to room and noticed stained carpet in hallway as we got off the elevator. The room had some minor issues (lights not working, loose toilet and seat, AC cover loose on balcony, etc.). There were plenty of towels in the bathroom which were very nice. At 6’2” I found the shower head very low as it hit my nose. Housekeeping and maintenance were doing their best to maintain the property, but it is starting to show age and looks dated. The free breakfast was reasonable, main thing I didn’t like was not about the food, but that everything was put in styrofoam/disposable plates, cups and silverware and nothing was being recycled.

Biggest issue was there were roaches in our room. When we told the office, they just said yeah that happens when there are storms. They were not only in our kitchen area, they were also in the bed area. Super disappointed with the experience. I understand it's hard to control but there was no concern that we were sleeping in an area infested with bugs.
