The common spaces were average but the rooms need a complete refurbishment. The first night we had to request to be moved because the rug in the room had a pungent odor. The front desk staff was helpful and was able to change our room. Unfortunately we went from one odor to another. The hotel states no smoking but allows smoking on the balcony. Our room wreaked of smoke from the room next door. We put a towel on the floor in front of our door but that only helped minimally. The pool was nice, the hot tub didn’t have the jets working and the towels were very thin. The best part of the hotel is its location on the beach and proximity to the airport. Overall we were disappointed and wouldn’t choose this property again.

Tiles were falling off the wall in the bathroom. I had to call maintenance to replace burnt out bulbs in the bathroom. I had to call the front desk because there was black residue inside of the tub. And the worst thing yet. My wife was killing roaches in the kitchen in our room. The roaches were crawling out from underneath the stove and baby roaches were in the silverware drawers. Definitely won’t be coming back.

We stayed in an ocean front room, which had a great view. The pool and hot tub were at the right temperatures and clean. The lounge chair area was very pleasant and offered both shady and sunny spots. We also liked the outdoor gas fire places with comfortable seating.

September stay at the strand

View was good. Room was too crowded. Didn't like the way you had to turn on water for shower. Pool and spa were wonderful 😊. Breakfast buffet was great. Other sitting areas and beach were great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would come back but in a different room.

Great ocean view. Room was nice. The wooden furniture smelled musty, but I opened up the doors to let air in. The rain might have affected it . Convenient kitchen and washer was great. The fire pit was a nice touch. And the outdoor lounge area was great.

weekend stay is positive 4 stars

The pricing was very good. we stayed on the 5th floor with a really good view. The door was tricky as we had to really put our weight into it to get it to open and slam it in order for it to shut. the hotel is older but it is clean. and with the exception of the man who berated me for five minutes because I didn't see him trying to exit at the same time I was going to retrieve my luggage. I don't think he was a guest and suspect he was cutting thru from the beach. All in all it was a pleasant stay.

Hotel is nice, lots of amenities, nice breakfast, customer service was good. Hotel has aged so the architecture isn’t modern but doable. Definitely would stay again. Plus you have free access to their sister property at Breakers Resort which is more suitable for families with kids.

Beach view very limited from Queen Efficiency room. Very nice pool and cushioned lounge chairs facing ocean. Some were shaded by small palm trees. Easy access to beach. Beds comfortable and clean linens. BUT the rooms are old! And very small! Hardly enough room to walk between bed and dresser for a skinny person. Table was useless. No room to sit down. Carpet was very worn and smelly. Made whole room smell like dirty socks.

Fridge leaked and would not keep cold. Tv only worked after maintenance in room 3 times and then switch on wall and light on to work. Phone in room needed maintenance. Shower had a tricke of water and then a maid had to explain how to turn water on! Good housekeeping service. Very small room with all amenities crammed into it!
