First time staying in a traditional ryokan and enjoyed every minute of it. Although they speak little English and I speak zero Japanese, they were quite accommodating. Truly memorable experience throughout and would stay here again. Also walking distance from the bus terminal.

Winter Getaway
Great stay at a modern take on a traditional ryokan. Fantastic location to walk all of Kusatsu but far enough from the city center to remain quiet. The private onsens are amazing and worth the extra expense. Great dinner experience as well. Friendly staff who catered to our poor use of the Japanese language.

As a well-traveled traveler within Japan, the ryokan was as expected except for dinner. The food was good, but I wasn't expecting western-style food (i.e. pasta).
