4 Bedroom Home in Historic Nemo


Surrounded by the National Forest, Nemo is located in an ideal setting for hunting and trail riding. South Dakota hunting licenses and trail permits can be purchased online.


Nemo puts the motorcyclist at the center of Sturgis Rally action. On your motorcycle follow scenic, paved highway through beautiful Vanocker Canyon to Sturgis, 17 miles; beautiful, winding paved highway to Rapid City, 16 miles, or scenic Highway 385 to Deadwood, 16 miles, where you can take in the casino action. This home is a short walking distance to Nemo Guest Ranch Beer Garden, Nemo's Branding Iron Restaurant which serves full entrées, the Mercantile Bar which serves homemade pizza and Big Mama's Beer Garden. During the rally the Nemo Volunteer Fire Department breakfast is a main attraction for all bikers in the area.


This home is Four Wheelers' delight. There is no need to trailer you ATVs - back your ATV out of the attached double garage and ride 1/4 mile down the country road to gain access to Centennial Trail. You can spend days four-wheeling through the hills and never have to repeat a trail.


Bicycling or hiking through Centennial Trail is also a great way to spend your vacation. Perhaps you would just like to enjoy a leisurely walk along the country road and stop at the three bridge crossings for scenic pictures.


Nemo offers a General Store, Convenience Store (sells alcohol to go), also gasoline. There is also a US Post Office and Church, right in Nemo.

The lack of a dishwasher becomes a big deal when check out is 10am and you are required to clean all the dishes before you leave. Host demanded to know why we were in town, seemed a bit overbearing.

We spent a week in the Black Hills and this is a perfect location to hit some great trails, with gas nearby at the Nemo Mercantile, and you can take in some sightseeing when you need a respite from riding. The home is nicely appointed, really comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with a lot of tools to prepare a meal. It is a really nice space for two couples and there were bathrooms on each floor with showers so each couple/family can have their own private space. The washer and dryer are appreciated for a mid-week load of laundry and we loved the use of the garage as well. Katharine and Paul are very responsive and are wonderful hosts.

The owners were great to work with. The amenities listed were very accurate. For a small house it had a lot of room with a very nice wrap around deck. Great place for early morning coffee. This house would easily accommodate 4 couples. The use of the garage was a plus for parking our motorcycles in at night. I would definitely stay here again.
