Very nice little hotel. Great lounge on the second floor where we listened to jazz. Very elegant experience. Roof top bar is a very loud 20s/30s scene.

Our room was beautiful, as well as the lobby and restaurant spaces. At times, there was a long wait for an elevator. The staff was always friendly. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel and unique. Loved everything about it. Only thing I’d change is that guests shouldn’t have to wait in line outside to be able to go up to rooftop bar after 9pm.

This was a wonderful hotel at a very reasonable price point, especially for New York City. The front desk staff was all very pleasant and helpful. My room was quite small but nicely laid out with touches like a lighted cubby under the bed for my suitcase to keep the space open. Huge bathroom. They honored my request for a high floor with a street view. I had a floor-to-ceiling window with a nice view. The room had automatic blinds, both privacy shades and full black-out shades. The hotel was in an excellent location in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood in easy walking distance to many theaters and just a few blocks from Times Square but outside all that nonsense. There was an onsite restaurant, a bar and a rooftop bar, although I didn't have the opportunity to visit them on this trip. I would absolutely stay here again.

I’ve been to NYC many times before and loved this location. It’s in Hell’s Kitchen and had a GREAT rooftop terrace! A block away from the m&m store in Times Square. The room was very clean and modern and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We are at their restaurant on the main floor and it was delicious! We will return !

Such a cute boutique style hotel, all of the staff was friendly. Rooms were nice and clean (small, but that’s NYC). Loved our stay and will definitely stay at the Civilian again, loved being able to walk to the shows nearby as well!

The Civilian Hotel is very conveniently located in the Times Square area, so it was perfect for our plans. The rooms were a little cramped but comfortable for sleeping. There are a couple of fun bars in the hotel too that seem to be very popular. Our only really critique is that the shower was a bit weird. It was designed for the water to go all over the bathroom floor, almost ankle deep. They provided a squeegee for us to squeegee into the two drains after a shower. It was kind of funny.
