It's a cozy little hotel room with all the just about everything you need. Location is great. Very close to local restaurants, subway, and grocery stores. Overall rating is a 3 because of #1, we were not advised there is a $20 fee for a 1 hour early check-in. During the pre check-in process(on-line), there was an early check-in fee, but it's for checking in before 1pm. We got there at 2pm and official check in was 3pm. We could have gone and had coffee for an hour and pay less than $20 when starbucks is just around the block. #2 no hair dryer as per listing, so we had to go to bed with wet hair. #3 hotel charges you other fees above and beyond what is listed on Travelocity booking. Seems like a communication between hotel and travelocity, but instead of making it right, they make excuses on why it was more than actual booking. Lots of emails going back and forth, and they finally refunded me the early check-in fee, but not the fees that were not listed on Travelocity, aka, hidden fees.

The rooms are super small specially the bathroom but even with that you get everything you need. Noise wasn’t really an issue for us so I believe they probably fixed it and overall had a great experience. We really liked the location and how accessible it was to restaurants, stores and transportation services.

The only negative is that the property entrance is not at the address. It is around the corner so my Uber was confused as was I. Once I knew where it was it was easy!

This property was a great find. We loved the kitchen. Better housekeeping could be a thing - there was grime on the walls and blinds. Clean sheets during the housekeeping days would also be nice.

East Village Hotel Stay
Great independent hotel in the East Village. Comfortable. Needed to keep white noise on and ear plugs for street noise. Email to check in didn’t come at check in time so I needed to reach out. Room could use more hanging hooks. Kitchenette was great to have. Bed was very comfortable.

New York is expensive... this place was just good enough for the price. We stayed for two days. The area is nice, close to transit (as most places in NYC). Building was quiet enough and the kitchenette is nice although we didn't use it.

I was not able to check in at the evening I booked for. I'm waiting for my refund. They had no one at the front desk to help me and the front door was locked. I had to find a number to call to be let in. They finally got us in but there was already someone sleeping in the room they gave me.

It is a good value in NYC, close to many good eating places and bars. It is a good base from which to explore New York. Walkable, public transportation nearby. The staff was very responsive on the phone (there is no reception desk), so my stay was good, no problem.

Always a lower cost option for overnight stays in Manhatten. Rooms are very small but clean and the bed is comfortable. The communication from the hotel is excellent and very clear. We’ve stayed here for 3 different visits to NYC and we keep coming back due to all the above reasons.

Pleasant stay with a couple of bumps.
My stay was fine other than the fact that I paid for early check in and my email never arrived, giving me the entrance code. When I did contact them by the phone number provided for bag drop-off, they resent the e-mail and all was well, but by then it was the time of the normal check-in. We also had a lot of trouble getting in our room. It took many, many tries with the code to get the door to open. The staff said that it had been a problem with that lock. That was a bit unnerving especially late in the evening.

I was traveling from Europe to NYC and I was sent an email from the hotel about getting into the hotel and room. It’s a self serve hotel. Wasn’t all that welcoming. They need to be more upfront about what this hotel room they are renting and how to access is up front. I was tired and weary when I got to the hotel and thought this ordeal was a hassle. I also had to spend 20 dollars in cab ride to another hotel they won to leave the bags for the day. I thought this hotel- the one I left the bags for the day was just around the corner. I give a gold star for the hotel owners trying to start a business-they need to do better.

Spent 3 nights at EVH.We were on 2nd floor and surprisingly the Sat night noise didn't bother us. The bed is comfortable, the shower is good and the kitchen is great for morning coffee or late night snack. House keeping is good. The location is amazing plenty of different restaurants, bars ... Definitely coming back to EVH when we come back to NY.

Very close to the avenue which isn’t ideal from a sound standpoint. The room also unfortunately had a broken window which allowed in additional, normal street noise.
