Small but nice, rooms. Good shower, comfy bed. Room was small but a good layout helped. They give you a bottle of delicious local orange soda and GREAT NYC Kettlecorn. Loved those. BIG downside. One of the elevators had been out for a week and didn't get fixed until the day before we left. This meant very long (up to 10 min) waits for the elevator. One of the stairwells went down to the lobby but the other went to a scary basement and it wasn't clear you could get out from there. (you could but it wasn't obvious). Some of the floors were locked from inside the stairwell. The communication about the stairs and the elevator status was not good. I heard different stories from every employee I asked about it and they didn't seem to be aware of some of the floors being locked. Also, no fridge in our room. Our hair dryer was broken, only one robe and no tissues. We called about these things and they were quickly fixed. GREAT location. We will return and hopefully the elevators will both be working and communication will have improved.

The hotel was very nicely renovated. It was really clean and the staff were polite and helpful. The bathroom was very tiny but was great using the space that was there. It was all new and comfortable. The bed was also comfortable. My only complaint is the price. It was very expensive for such a tiny room! But I know -- this is New York City -- certainly not known for any bargains!

Wonderful remodeled rooms. Lobby staff were incredibly gracious and welcoming. Small lobby which is attached to a nice Italian restaurant. We used the fitness center almost everyday of our 3 night stay and it suited our needs. Housekeeping service was great. The staff at the Branch, their sixth floor cafe/terrace, could have been a bit friendlier and warmer. We will stay again.

Nice rooms. Staff very friendly. Excellent location with walking to many major sites. Right across the street from NY Public Library. The only downside was one of the two elevators was not working during our entire 4 night stay. Long waits and many trips up and down the steps.

The hotel is lovely, however, during our stay, one elevator was not functioning , which only left one elevator working and it was impossible to get on and off--Extreme long waits --Very inconvenient. Hopefully, they will have this fixed soon

One SMALL elevator working. Small rooms. Comfy bed
Despite being built in the last decade, there are only 2 elevators for all guests AND staff.One was out for the 3 days we were there and no sign it was going to be functioning soon. Check in staff could care less! And the stairs were filthy and you couldn't enter the lobby if you went down the stairs on wrong side if bldg. which no one mentioned..no signage. Oh, when I mentioned had only one robe in room (2 guests) and needed tissues, desk person tried to correct me, saying tissues were there. 20%tip automatic on Terrace restaurant but you don't know that until you see the bill....even if just picking up morning coffee....which not very good either.
