For all the haters re: room size. It's NYC, rooms are small -- this room had a pretty lovely/spacious bathroom though. The good: Overall, the FiDi was a great option for me as a solo traveler. The staff (Bianca, Glen and many others whom I don't know their names) are super! Very kind, welcoming and just great service. Everything was clean and well maintained. Coffee/tea in the AM was appreciated, as was the daily infused water. Excellent walking to either the Greenway, south street or battery park and easy access to most subway lines. Loved getting a Citi bike and going up the west side path. I felt it was very safe as well and pretty quiet. I requested a mini fridge before my stay and they had one installed in the room -- I do think they can do this with all rooms TBH, but ask and you should receive. Lots of good restaurants in the area as well!
The not great: I do wish the gym had another machine or two, but I got my workouts in. The $30/day "resort" fee is ridiculous, but again, most NYC hotels have this too.
Overall, the area isn't my fave, BUT I would def stay there again if I needed to be in the area for work. If you're a tourist who wants access to all the downtown tourist stuff or a biz traveler, this place is a gem.
