Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The staff on the front were super rude and unprofessional. Night potter was the only good person.
Good sized comfortable triple room, great value for the price. The staff were helpful and friendly. We booked the Cairn Hotel but our accommodation was in the Carlton Hotel over the road from the Cairn Hotel. There is a sports bar on the ground floor but it wasn't too noisy to cause us a problem just something to be aware of.
The room was very small and not how the pictures portrayed. The walls were paper thin and the first night we barely slept a wink due to the person next door having the tv on all night, coughing and being sick. The next night wasn’t much better. The room had a broken bedside light. The bathroom is also very small. Everything was reported after the first night to the receptionist and nothing was done. Won’t be staying here again.
Visiting family and friends and have stayed at the Cairns Hotel in past.
Best part of hotel is in the preferred Jesmond area and the hotel restaurant (Sohe), which has an excellent Asian inspired menu.
Booked premium room and although room was large it was fairly basic with very small bathroom.
Bathroom badly designed and toilet up against wall so can only sit on it sideways and toilet roll holder then on other side of bathroom!!
I have an issue with all UK hotels that do not think of providing coat hooks. In a country prone to bad weather no place to put coats except over chairs in room as if put in small provided wardrobe the rest of dry clothes would not stay that way for long. It is a cheap extra to provide and just shows that hotel has been thoughtful about this problem.
Please see attached photos for our solution😀
Also why do hotels insist in putting the ironing board into the provided wardrobe, because the first thing you would have to do if you wanted to hang up your clothes, is take it out.
I recently stayed at Cairn Hotel and found it to be quite noisy. Despite friendly staff and decent amenities, the sounds from outside rooms made it hard to sleep. If you're sensitive to noise, I recommend requesting a room away from the street. Overall, the hotel has potential, but the noise was a significant drawback for my stay.
Overcharged at bar
Music from 6.30am Sunday morning from restaurant area which woke me then kept me awake
Room was clean and good facilities
Just frustrated by a couple of items
Parking free and easy to sort
Breakfast was very good
Perfect location to visit my son who is a uni student

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The room we were given at first had a strange smell, then we were given another room. As we went for breakfast in the morning, the customer service from one of the staff members was poor.
Also disappointed that the hotel sheets were not changed daily.
