Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Such friendly staff on reception. Its a dated hotel and the hot breakfast is appalling. On a positive there is a car park and football in thr bar.
Quite dated and room cost not good value compared to other hotels I typically stay in, in the area.
Breakfast service very poor. Coffee machine broken and out of milk. Had to queue to use the other one.
Picked up a plate at breakfast buffet, unbearably hot and unable to hold whilst waiting to serve myself. Then there wasn’t any food when it was my turn. Sited a few minutes then sat down to wait. Came back after circa 5 mins. Food now available but no plates. Waited circa 3-4 mins for plates. Took almost 20 mins to get a self serve breakfast.
We stayed at a Copthorne hotel in Chiswick which was fabulous. The decor, the amazing bathroom, the well thought out spacious and well equipped bedroom. We were hugely disappointed with the Newcastle Copthorne. The room was very tired and the bathroom was so horribly old fashioned and worn. I did ask if we could move to a more modern room and was told that they were all the same. We did not notice the system of hanging traffic light information outside our door for our room to be cleaned or not so our room remained unmade. This just seems an easy way to have a reduced staff level and the queue at checking in and at breakfast demonstrated this to be true. I would not recommend this hotel until it has an overhaul.
Got a lovely up grade as it was our 10 wedding anniversary form getting married at The Copthorne Hotel.

Awful check in as car park is not owned by hotel
The car park attached to the hotel is owned by another company. It is very very confusing as the website says £12.50 for 24 hours but when we paid £12.50 at 12.40 pm it says it was valid till 4.50 pm. A sign said something about redeeming your ticket at reception. The receptionist said we shouldn’t have bought a ticket and we should have gone to reception first , yet there is a massive 4 foot sign in the foyer and next to pay station saying pay on entry. Initially both the receptionist and manager said we would have to pay again as the car park is nothing to do with them and then the receptionist exclaimed , oh I’ve remembered we can put you the hours in free till tomorrow. We won’t be coming back.
