We had a horrible experience at this hotel. Arrived at 00:45 following a long, delayed flight into NCL. The receptionist greeted us with "you're lucky to be able to check in, my system is closing down". He wasn't being sarcastic, he was deadly serious. He told us off for not sending him a message to let him know we would be late (how he expected me to have done that whilst sitting on a plane for 5 hours I am not sure). Nowhere on the website for this hotel does it say that check-in time is reatricted, and seeing as this hotel is fairly close to a large airport I doubt this is a rare occurrance. Having spent a long day travelling I just said 'look i just want to check in', he got shirty and wouldnt look at me again. The room was sweltering (no air con) and the double beds are very small so we got very little sleep. Breakfast is mediocre. Don't come here.

Sofa bed not comfy for kids but rest was brilliant. Nice complimentary breakfast too and free parking. Good to get into town- bus stop just outside and 5 minutes to metro centre

We stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Express on 9May2024. From the time of our arrival to departure the staff were welcoming, helpful and efficient. The room was comfortable, clean and had all the essentials. We will definitely consider staying there again if we are in the Newcastle area

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Only the one problem, it stated we could check in anytime, but when we arrived after a concert in Sunderland at 12:35am, we was informed that we had just made it!!

Great hotel and a nice price.
You would think for the price, there is something sub-standard about this hotel. Not the case at all. It offers great value for money, with friendly staff and a nice comfortable room. The included breakfast is an added bonus. My daughter was very happy with it. There is also a TGI Friday and KFC across the car park. Snacks are available to purchase in the lobby, and there is also a bar serving snacks. My daughter forgot her toothbrush, so the receptionist was able to provide one for her. Staff were very friendly and good to converse with! If you are going to the Metro centre or Beamish, even the airport this is an ideal place to stay. I will return!

Very nice hotel reasonably priced
The hotel staff were amazing, nothing was a problem for them. Our room was really clean stocked with good quality toiletries and really clean white towels. Location was excellent for shopping as well as food. Breakfast was really good and there was a constant flow of hot drinks! Would certainly recommend…..

Everything we needed
Easy location to find and park at. Room was clean and all that we needed for a quick overnight stay before playing golf early the next morning. Breakfast was great, tasty and plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a great place to use as a hotel
