Very friendly welcome and staff throughout our stay were wonderful. Food fantastic - especially the full Cornish breakfast.
Our room was a little disappointing. The double bed was not the most comfortable. The room, in my opinion, could do with some form of net or voile curtains as we were looking directly in to the Travelodge bedrooms so they could look directly in to ours! The room was very hot as needed to keep windows closed due to noise in the night so a fan would have been a welcome addition. There were no bedside lamps as in the photos only the switch by the door. Bathroom was lovely and big however water pressure was very low.
The Griffin is in a great location for exploring Newquay.
The room did not look like the advertised rooms and the bathroom's are very out dated and the shower was a dribble effect. The beds were very old mattresses and very saggy.Would not stay again or recommend thus hotel.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Shower drain. The water was clogged in the shower. And shower force is very slow.
Great Inn in a central location. Pubs, eaterie, shops and beaches all within easy walking distance. Good breakfast and very dog friendly. Have stayed here before and hopefully will again. Helios.
Hotel is central to Newquay, easy walk to Great western beach and the town, The Griffin has a very good food menu, always a good selection on specials board, crab salad is excellence, sunday roast is fab also a nut roast choice, Everyone of the staff is very good and make you feel welcome, Beers good to.
Quaint hotel, with big clean rooms. Bed and pillow were a little hard for my personal preference. Reception staff and breakfast waitress both very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast menu was limited but okay to fill a hole.

Fan noise
Room was ok however the noise from the external kitchen fan was terrible, was advised on arrival there I would hear some slight noise but would be off by 9.00 had to leave room due to the noise and the smell wasn’t the best, having a room right next to an external wall fan not the best also had to ask for the fan to be turned off.
Not a place I would stay myself again…

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
All was just ok, decor quite dated and water pressure awful. Could have done with a fan in the room as also v warm.
Location however is fantastic and free parking a bonus in the centre of Newquay.

Comfortable and friendly staff
Lovely little hotel, centrally located. In need of updating and refurb but the staff were very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Comfortable but some noise from the pub opposite. Not the hotels fault though!
Lots to mention really. Not idea for families or people that want an early night or a lie in. The Wetherspoons across the road is open till 1am and opens 9am so it’s noisy and the room was warm so having the windows open caused a lot of noise and road noise. The room was clean and the staff are helpful. The mattress wasn’t the best and we could feel the springs and my partner has awful nights sleeps. It’s rated 3star and I would agree and it wasn’t expensive for a weekend so it’s all relative really. Has parking which is bonus in Newquay and handy walking distance to everything.
The Griffin is very central. Outside seating area is great to sit and watch the world go by. Serves food which is nice. My twin room was clean. Beds comfortable. Can be noisy I expect if your room is at the front. I was lucky. It was quiet because of the windy weather. My car was splattered with gull poo, but it's a sea side resort so gulls are are part of the experience.
