It's beautifully located with a great scenery.. the facilities and cleanliness maintained is average. Restaurant staff are just not cordial. The furniture and other amenities are worn out with time.. Can do much more..

Rooms were spacious enough with balcony. Washrooms were also clean and tidy. The place is overcrowded especially during the breakfast time. There aren't enough chairs to host the guests in the restaurant.

Hotel in need of modernisation
We arrived at 0700 and the staff very kindly provided us with a temporary room until our room was ready at 12.00. The temporary room we were given was the honeymoon suite although we did not know it at the time. When we went to our room we were expecting similar. The hotel is really two hotels joined by a bridge on the fifth floor. The hotel is a mass of steps and certain areas (restaurant and all rooms in the block to the right hand side of reception do not have lifts). The rooms are in need of a good clean. Our bathroom window did not fit the frame and had no locks. We booked a room with a fridge, The fridge only arrived after we mentioned it. It worked but it was rusty and had not been cleaned. During our stay there was a festival at the Hindu temple next door. Music( a gyrating Hindi sound) and singing was relayed at full volume by giant speakers both day and all night. This was totally unacceptable and the hotel should have previously advised of this, as we would have cancelled our booking. It finished at midnight of our second day. On the plus side the staff were very good and tried to please.

Value for money
It wasn't 5 star but was comfortable and clean. The view was excellent. The service by friendly staff was good. The food was tasty. The beach was about 7 minutes walk away. It was clean and the sea wasn't rough. Overall it was a good experience.

Reception lady took us to our room with a can of air freshener in her hand, not a good thing. Door lock is the old fashioned push button, easiest lock to pick, not a good thing. Bathroom looked like it had be updated in 40 years, cupboard door was kept shut only with wad of paper that was gross looking, not a good thing. Restaurant , I wanted a cocktail from drink menu, was told no cocktail. 20 minutes later, he comes back and said I could ordercocktail if I wanted . Food was so so

Wonderful ambience
We were there for one night but the stay was really memorable. Everything right from the pick up service was exceptionally good. The staff is very friendly and service is also very prompt. Variety of food can be experienced here. The ambience is too good. Complementary pick up and drop by motorboat and evening houseboat ride adds value to your experience. All in all a great place for leisure

An OK place.. good enough if you are on a budget
It is an OK place to stay. Do not expect anything extraordinary for this price. But be prepared to climb a lot of stairs... for pool.. for restaurant... for beach... for everything... steep climbs all day.. in 2 days... my hips were aching a lot. Foor average... breakfast average.. but very little sitting. Always crowded

Good hotel with pleasant rooms
Very good hotel, and a great end to our tour of the South. Staff very pleasant, didn't try the restaurant except for breakfast, Pool was clean, my only comment would be the climb up from the beach in 35 degrees was somewhat daunting.

Pleasant and quiet hotel short walk from the beach
Pleasant relaxing hotel with great views, a/c large bedrooms and extensive public areas. We had to ask for a few basics on arrival though as only one of everything was supplied initially eg extra pillows if you wanted two, no hand towels, no kettle and the room door was almost impossible to lock for some reason. Wifi didn't work in the rooms and had to sit in reception to use it. Initially we were given a written code for wifi which was incorrect. All the problems encountered were minor stuff really but annoying and unnecessary nevertheless. Apart from that everything was good including the extensive buffet breakfast, the (limited choice) bar, the pool and the inside/outside public areas were all clean and well maintained. The pleasant beach is a fair walk downhill via a twisting alleyway and it is of course uphill on the return. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful and hotel arranged transport to the airport for us. Despite the minor issues we enjoyed our few days there and would happily stay there again and also recommend it to others.

Great hotel, good food, right next to the beach. Not suitable for anybody with mobility issues due to the number of steps to be climbed, but worth it for the view!

Would not recommend
Although the website advertised that rooms were equipped with fridge, hairdryer, kettle and iron non were present. The website did not mention the steep climb from the beach to the hotel nor the five ramps and ten steps up to the room. There were also two flights of steps to the restaurant and a further four to reception. Not good if you have a bad knee! WiFi was only available in reception and did not often work. Staff were not very helpful. Breakfast was included but only ate there twice, coffee was luke warm, toast not fresh although eggs were cooked to order. Preferred to eat on the beach and pay. Bathroom was grubby although the room in general was clean. The main problem was the level of noise. Unable to sleep with the air conditioning on as it was very noisy. Other guests were making a lot of noise late at night, banging doors, phones ringing, running in the corridor and talking very loudly, up to and after midnight. I twice had to complain to reception and although the noise stopped after that it was not for about fifteen to twenty minutes. The staff coming at around seven am also showed no consideration to guests, talking loudly, slamming doors and making no effort to be quiet.

Not as good as website portrays
We booked the Sagara based partly because of the Expedia room description and partly on the hotels website photos etc. We booked a non sea view room as our experience is that sea view rooms can have the sun on them all day resulting in having to keep blinds closed etc. We expected the non sea view room to be of the same quality as the rooms shown on the website. However, it was located in a different block to the main hotel, down a long flight of steps and lacked most of the facilities that were described. There was no refrigerator, mini bar, tea/coffee facilities as in the room description. The room was also quite small and tired and although "cleaned" each day it was quite dusty/dirty and the bathroom was a disgrace with only a cold tap on the sink and mould all round the bath. Breakfast was ok with a choice of eggs, toast, jam, a number of curry dishes, fresh fruit, tea, coffee and juice. We ate in on one night and had a very nice meal. On the whole staff were reasonably friendly although it was the only hotel where we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay when checking out. The hotel is in a good location with a back entrance only a couple of hundred metres from the beach. The front entrance has a number of shops and taxis/tuk tuks close by.

Luxury near the beach
The Sagara Beach is located about 5 minute's walk uphill from the beach so is very convenient. We had the highest rated room with a sea view and it was worth the extra money. The balcony and room were huge. The bed was really comfy and the shower room was also good.Big fridge in room too. Wi fi worked well in the reception area.

Hopeless filthy hotel with yellow water in taps.
We have never experienced such terrible experience ever on a family holiday. The staff was not courteous. We were charged heavily for rooms but the ones provided were below basic that had yelow coloured water flowing. It was a clear case of cheating and fraud. When we were checking out of the hotel and asked for a proper bill ( Taxable invoice), the staff at the reception did not even knew how to print a taxable invoice and were trying to give us a simple excel printed bill. They finally after 2 hours gave us a bill that clearly mentioned the room rates were less than half of what we were charged. The balance amount they printed in the invoice as plan amount ( obvious of the fact that the rooms were over charged). Not only it is a cheating with us but we have lost hope both in Hotels.com and Expedia who were their booking partners.

Sagara - luftslott (Ok men ingen lyx)
