Great place to stay

The place itself is stunning and staff are very friendly. The grandeur of the buildings and grounds creates an amazing ambience and this is complimented by the reception, dining areas and rooms. Was last here a good few years ago, and they have only refined their beautiful hotel.

Overall the property has a feeling of being neglected, specifically there were missing covers on the door locks, and door closers, the doors to the rooms were scuffed and dirty, stair case railings were missing finials, and elevator was beaten up and not very clean. It strikes me that the mainenance and upkeep budgets are likely not sufficient. Also, when ordering room service, the door hanger order form as placed on the door well before the 2:30 am deadline, just to find it still on the door in the morning when we realized the food hadn't arrived, After discussion with the staff they let us know that their rules had changed and we would need to pickup the food from the front desk and would have needed to order the night before. They did get us sorted but they were scrambling around trying to determine if the door hangers were old and incorrect. They did decide that the door hangers were wrong. Again attention to detail seems to be the problem. Lastly, I would say that the staff is trying very hard, is very friendly and responsive, I just get the feeling that they are not given what they need in the form of funding, training, etc. to get the job done at the level one would expect from such a property.

Worth the stay!

Dunston Hall was a beautiful stay. Friendly staff (especially Sally at the front desk), comfortable beds and quiet. I love historic hotels, so this definitely fit the bill. Would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our overnight stay here, spa was lovely, room was clean, bed was SO comfy and breakfast was nice. Quiet at night, staff was happy and friendly enough, we’ll definitely come back!

Beautiful setting. Tried the Bar - great atmosphere - had a chicken Caesar salad and onion rings chicken was dry and onion rings burnt - surprised a chef would send it out of the kitchen! Great place to take dogs - dog friendly. Breakfast was very good with a lot to choose from. We Tried the pool and sauna - very clean- staff very helpful. Had no snuggly dressing gowns in our room which were included with our room - asked at reception gave me a couple and apologised - nothing too much trouble - they ordered a taxi for us - everyone was very helpful - would definitely go back minus the bar food.

Beautiful building, genetic interior

Although the architecture of the property is stunning, internally there are no historical features and the rooms are very generic, looking similar to a Travel lodge. The breakfast was basic with additional charges for extras, the toiletries were basic and overall there was nothing worth paying extra.

Beautiful peaceful break away

It was a lovely break away with kids and our dog. The staff were amazing especially the young girl at the lounge where we went in the evenings she went above and beyond for us. Spa was great and the staff were so welcoming. We will definitely come here again

East Anglia trip.

Second stay at the hotel, and a pleasant couple of night. Great to see a hotel with EV charging points making the trip around East Anglia and back to Cheshire an easier exercise. Hotel is clean and spacious and rooms good, except no glasses in room for water. Spa and pool great and breakfast was well covered for all peoples requirements.
