I stayed at the Azalaï while in Nouakchott for a multi-week work assignment. I appreciated the design of the rooms: the floor-to-ceiling window between the bathroom and living area lends an open and spacious feel, and there is a good deal of storage provided for clothing and other items. Central AC with in-room thermostats means quiet, customizable climate control - a big plus. If you are staying for more than a week, consider upgrading to an exective room for additional space (including a bigger bathroom/shower) and a nicer layout. The only difference in amenities between the standard and executive rooms (as near as I could tell) was the plush bathrobe provided in the latter.
The fitness room, while small, has two treadmills, a recumbent stationary bike, an elliptical machine and an all-in-one weight machine, all in good condition. The restaurant and room service menus are somewhat limited, but they feature a mix of vegetarian, seafood and meat dishes at reasonable prices.
Overall, the hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable and a good value, and I would recommend it to business travelers.
