Overall, our stay at the Nungwi Garden Boutique hotel in Zanzibar was a mixed experience. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, and the check-in process was smooth and pleasant. The hotel's location was convenient, allowing easy access to the nearby beach and restaurants.
However, there were several downsides that affected my stay. Despite the hotel's size, the breakfast area had only four tables, leading to a lack of seating on multiple occasions. This inconvenience could have been mitigated if the broken chair on my balcony had been fixed or replaced as promised. Unfortunately, despite reporting the issue on the first day, no action was taken.
One of the major drawbacks was the room's proximity to the housekeeping alleyway. Starting as early as 6:40 AM, the noise from loud chatting, banging, clashing, and other activities in the alleyway disrupted the tranquility of the room. The alleyway was also utilized as a break room throughout the day, resulting in the constant intrusion of loud conversations.
Another source of disturbance was the loud music played at the pool and restaurant area until around 12PM, even though the venue was often sparsely occupied in the evenings. This inconsistency in noise control affected the overall ambiance and relaxation that one would expect in a hotel setting.
In conclusion, while the room itself and the check-in experience were satisfactory, the additional mentioned points detracted from the overall quality of our stay.
