The one thing I have experienced while using expedia.com for my travel reservations is this stand-offish attitude from the hotel desk and it happened again but in a very negative way with this particular hotel. We were traveling for Christmas, there are five of us, two adults and three children. The reservation form for this hotel did not allow for three children, it claimed that there were too many children for the two rooms I was reserving, so I registered for one adult and one child in each room as well as one extra bed I thought in one of the rooms, but as it turned out it was for an extra person in each room. When mentioning this to the desk and asking them for some sort of gesture for the overpayment (I thought a free breakfast for the third kid) they refused in a very rude way referring to this reservation coming from expedia as second or third class. I thought the way he handled the situation was very unprofessional. I spent time calling expedia to ask for advice and they were very helpful with this situation.
I do not understand why there is this negative attitude from hotels for making reservations through expedia, so many things are done on-line now, especially travel arrangements. This particular trip was to Sri Lanka but I have experienced this same attitude in Qatar, in the US and in Europe. The hotels should be grateful for expedia bringing us to their establishments, many of whom would be unknown without the help of the on-line booking site.
