The gym and club were fabulous, and the hotel historic. The sparkling wine at 5 PM was fun. My room was beautifully appointed and if you only used it at night would have been nice. However it was like a cave during the day with only a small skylight like window in the slanted ceiling. The room was so very dark during the day. The bathroom had a great window- but it was the bathroom! They should only use this room if it is heavily discounted or free.

Old historic charm…..however out of many items on menu and beverage issues- Co2 etc. Room was isolated at end of wing and right next to recycling, trash, and garbage compacting! Woke us up at 5:30 am and had to complain to manager to get truck to stop making noise at night! Very frustrating when tired and trying to sleep. Very long walk for ice and water!

This is a lovely staycation if you live in SF! We live in the fog, and needed a break from the children. The claremont fit the bill! In the past we sometimes have gone far away, but that can be stressful because of the long drives, etc. WIth the Claremont, we got to explore a part of the Bay Area where we usually don't go, and the facilities are glorious. The workout rooms are phenomenal, and the pool and spa are fantastic. Plus don't forget your tennis and pickleball racquet! Great weekend without the stress of travel! We will be back!

Worst hotel rooms
Terrible experience. Stuffy, smelly, outdated hotel rooms with poor concierge. Changing rooms at 10:30 pm is not my favorite activity in a 5 stars hotel. The rooms are in the worst condition, smelly leather beds, and the restoration is happening on the outside?? I will call for credit and refund…

Unbelievable view!! I could see the Golden Gate Bridge from my room. And then I took an amazing hike up Stone wall and could see the Berkeley campus from top and the bay. I also loved the tennis.

This hotel was an huge disappointment. Air conditioning was not working properly in our room —during a heat wave — so it was 90 degrees on our room. They were unable to move us to a new room within a reasonable time period, so we ended up having to stay in the 90 degree room the whole trip. Also, for a “dog-friendly” hotel there were few places on the property where we were allowed to bring the dog. The restaurant’s outdoor patio only allowed service dogs.
