I would have loved for this stay to would have been different, instead, it was terrible and it almost ruined my vacation. The check in was nice, I felt welcomed, until I was told that my room had a shared bathroom, which was not clear or even on the property’s description, I decided to accept it, the charge for my reservation was already made. While I was setting up in my room, I noticed that the door lock had been tempered with and was broken, I reported it to the staff and was , told that it had been reported by the prior tenant, they gave me the room anyway!! This didn’t make me feel safe but was told that the manager would be informed. When I came back from a tour was told that the lock was still broken plus there will not be running water from 8pm -1am., with a shared bathroom? Really?! tried resolving the issue and get a refund from the hotel or a transfer to a different room and was unsuccessful. At this point the staff was not willing to assist or resolve and no manager there, i didn’t feel safe staying in this room with a tempered lock and will have to find another place to stay in a foreign country. I made the decision for my safety to leave the room and return the keys, the clerks refused to provide me proof and I had to call the police to witness the activity. They did. I am now at 8:10pm trying to find another room away from my country of origin and fear for my safety. I demand a refund and sanctions to the hotel as they put me or guests in danger.

This traditional hotel near Oaxaca's historic central district worked out well for me. The staff was helpful and friendly, the 99-peso breakfast was yummy and the staff helped me get a taxi to the airport at 3:30 am. Just a few short blocks from the must-see San Dominico church, convent and museum.

Nice little place with all the bacics at our disposal in a really gool location on the edge of the "Centro" area. The staff was very helpful and always polite. They recommended a day tour to Mitla and the Giant tree "Arbol Del Tule" as well as a couple other stops that was just a really great 10 hour day trip that we teally enjoyed and highly recommend. Nice little simple breakfast included. Would stay here again for sure if ever back in Oaxaca.

Emmy friends and I just used the place to rest a bit and to leave our clothes while exploring the city. The shared bathroom might be an issue for those staying longer as you might have to share it with other people. The curtain had an unpleasant smell too. The staff was super friendly and accommodating but the place needs to be clean. The welcome sign by the entrance was a nice touch.

I liked that it has American Breackfast included and you have the option to ask for another kind of breackfast for 100 pesos more. I did not like that I only learned that I had to share bathroom and toilet with other guests only when I was there. I would like to have known this before I choose the place

The wifi did not work. The water got turned off in the morning. They also did not let my partner use the washroom when we came back to get the car. The rooms are very small and the beds are of low quality. The breakfast was nice and the location is excellent.

Charming Gem of a Hostal in Downtown Oaxaca
What a charm! Friendly staff, great character. Slept very well here (3 nights). It's on a quiet street, yet just a couple of blocks from the downtown happenings near the Guzman church. The rooftop area is so nice for end-of-the-day relaxing. Guests appear to be mostly European and Canadian, well informed and mostly Spanish speaking. Oaxaca is a wonderful city, and this is a great hostel--I hope to return someday. Highest recommendation!

Very nice and simple. Great breakfast and friendly staff. If you want a luxurious place don’t stay here, but if you want a clean well priced room near everything it’s great.

Great breakfast, nice rooms. Beds are a little hard and the rooms open to a deck that is public, so it can be a little noisy. However, I this Hotel is a great deal and overall it was a wonderful stay.

Very Accommodating Staff
Quiet place. We were able to arrange a airport pick up through them for much cheaper than a taxi, it was also in a nice clean SUV. They arranged tours though El Andador, it was cheaper to do it there than ahead of time though this website. My father and I have done many overseas trips and were very happy with the hotel, but if my mother had went she would not have liked it (no A/C, harder mattresses, etc.). Luckily it was a fathers day trip and we left her at home. The weather was amazing, didn't need A/C, I actually like harder mattresses (wasn't hostel hard, but not plushy!) Warm breakfast at 8:30 to start your day and it is less than 6 minutes to walk to Plaza Santo Domingo which is the "CENTER" center. Calm, quiet and safe area, we met some people who we needed to walk back to their hostel (it was in a sketchy looking area with NO light). We will stay here again, we have determined Oaxaca City is a great place to visit.

Friendly and comfortable place, good location
We stayed for two weeks and were embraced by Norma, the owner, and her daughters Stephanie and Jasmine and principal employee Agustin and the kitchen and housekeeping staff. Breakfast included was in a colorful garden, inner court, where we enjoyed good Oaxacan desayuno, visiting with the other guests, and sublimely peaceful music in the background. We have recommended to friends who have booked in February. Good location: short walk to great restaurants, Santo Domingo Plaza, and all tourist attractions. They will gladly arrange out of town tours, and they were very helpful in calling for information we needed for further travel.
