A Memorable Stay at Riu Ocho Rios I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Riu Ocho Rios Hotel, thanks to its exceptional staff and engaging entertainment. Housekeeper Kerone kept our room immaculate, adding delightful touches with daily bed and curtain decorations. Front desk manager Shanika was professional and attentive, ensuring all our needs were met with warmth and efficiency. The entertainment team excelled in keeping guests engaged throughout the day with diverse activities and outstanding shows. A special mention goes to Fabian, whose energy and dance moves were truly captivating. While the dining experience offered authentic Jamaican dishes, the flavors lacked the traditional seasoning I anticipated. Additionally, only Tabasco sauce was available, and I would have preferred a Jamaican hot sauce option. However, server Fitzroy enhanced our meals with his attentive and personalized service, quickly learning our preferences and always greeting us by name. Overall, the outstanding staff at Riu Ocho Rios made our stay remarkable. Their dedication and hospitality ensure I will choose this hotel for future visits.

We had a great time. Our unit was clean and well maintained. All staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel had so many food and drink options all the time. I did not like that the hotel is far away from the airport. We were not able to use the Riu shuttle because we booked our stay through Travelocity. We had to arrange for our own transportation.

Upon arrival at the resort we were greeted by a friendly staff and check is was easy. However trying to find our room was quite difficult with only verbal directions that were somewhat unclear. A simple map would have been helpful as the resort is rather large. After settling into our room we put our valuables in the safe. The next day we need to get back into the safe and we were unable to open it and had to call the front desk three times to get someone to open it. We talk to others that had the same problem getting into their safes too. The third day the floor we were on lost internet service which also caused the tv and room phone not to work. When we needed anything for our room we had to go to the front desk. The internet service was never restored during our stay. Having personal business to take care of we had to constantly try to find a quiet place to conduct business. The last day of our stay we lost water in our room and were unable to use the shower our toilet. While the staff was very friendly and the food was good and plentiful the issues with our room ruined what should have been a very nice stay

So I’ll start with staff. There were some staff that were very friendly and great and some seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Most staff were friendly but it was just their job. When we checked in, we were put in building 4 which is a decent walk from from desk with luggage. Nobody said where bldg was or even offered to take luggage to room. We wheeled 4 suitcases with smaller bags to the room. We were on top floor (3rd) and there were no elevators!!!! So I had to carry each suitcase up stairs which was crazy for the amount money we spent! Other buildings do have elevators but ours didn’t. The gym was not useable. It’s very small, crowded, only 2 treadmills that rude people stay on for over an hour. There was nothing to clean and sanitize equipment so people just wipe off with a towel, The food was ok, nothing was over the top great. There was plenty of food at the buffet (jerk chicken and fish to pizza and hamburgers etc). The restaurants were nothing special, we ate at 3 of them and it’s the same as the buffet we felt. My wife is gluten free and there wasn’t a whole lot that catered to her. I will say that Pepe’s kitchen was great out by the pool but there were long waits for the chicken and burgers. The entertainment was good. We saw the show that was the history of Jamaican music and Michael Jackson show which were good I thought. Overall it was a nice week there, nothing crazy, nothing I would need to go back for the money. Our stay was 12/29/2024-1/4/2025

Main problem was there wasn’t just one or two bad experiences with staff, but too many to count. There was definitely some amazing people that worked there. But the lack of care and respect was unlike I’ve ever experienced. It’s okay to encounter a few bad apples. But in this case, it was on a daily basis.

This hotel is way over rated, let's start with trying to check in, from the moment you get to the front gate it's a issue with the lack of communication, you can't reach the property directly to find out anything, at the gate everyone has to be listed that is checking in to get through the gate, the same goes for all the rooms you reserved each room has to have a different name on the reservation if you rented more than one, and they won't change it unless you booked with them directly, but this isn't mentioned anywhere plainly until you are standing at the front desk with all your guests with 12 rooms reserved in one name, which anywhere else this wouldn't be a issue and know that Agoda can't help you at this point because not even them can get in touch with the hotel and they won't talk to them from your phone, leaving you stranded if you can't book alternative room with them if they have any or another place, while the staff is helpful their hands are tied by this policy, should you get in you find on the surface it all looks great but look closer you find that it lacks maintenance, the rooms are in need of some, mold is an issue, had a pipe burst in the ceiling and water pouring out everywhere flooding the room, you would think that getting another room should be easy but that took some time, and know that roaches are a problem so check your stuff before you leave (don't want any stow away) if you are looking for a enjoyable getaway there are lots of lesser expensive plac
