✨🌌Peaceful riverside cabin in the UP near public beach, trails & the Porkies!🌲

Welcome to your UP adventure headquarters: *Floodwood River Oar’asis*! Our tranquil little artfully curated getaway is the perfect home base for anyone visiting the UP! It is best described as a blend of outdoorsy inspired northwoods cabin nostalgia balanced with some comforts you’d find at home (picture snuggly blankets, crisp and cozy linens, comfy beds, a good book, the crackle of a campfire under the stars, and a warm cup of coffee or tea). A bit about our location: perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, we are situated along the banks of the Floodwood River, which, if you bring along your kayak, you can paddle just a quick jaunt downstream right up to Lake Superior. Or, trailer up your sleds and atvs to hop on the trails just down the road! If conditions are just right, you may even fall asleep to the sound of the waves of the big lake, or stay up late and catch a glimpse of the breathtaking dance of the northern lights! The cabin sits on serene 32 acres of private wooded property so you are welcome to explore, snowshoe (provided for guests in winter) and relax to your hearts content. We are located just a few miles from town, where you’ll find a selection of shops, groceries, gas as well as options for dining out (we reccommend The Squeeze!). We are also approx 20 miles away from Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park including Lake of the Clouds, all levels of hiking trails, waterfalls, beaches, cc and downhill skiing and more! There are plenty of nearby snowmobile, atv and hiking trails/UP adventure hotspots (Bond Falls, Agate Falls, etc. or take the ferry to Isle Royale: for more info see link here: https://www.nps.gov/isro/planyourvisit/ranger-iii-info.htm) within an hour or so radius of the cabin; the possibilities are endless no matter what season you visit! Interior cabin amenities include: the main floor is wheelchair accessible, has a covered porch with spacious entryway, full bath with tile shower, petite yet well equipped kitchen and wet bar as well as a dining and living area. There are two queen beds, one on the main floor and one up in the loft, sleeping a total of 4 people. Upstairs, opposite the sleeping area, you’ll find a desk for creatives and a cozy reading nook. We have internet service for you to work remotely, but also encourage you to disconnect and take time to enjoy a hobby of yours or explore the outdoors! Speaking of outdoor space: Please observe and respect our occasional animal visitors, including deer, hummingbirds, river beavers, and more! We have a firepit with chairs as well as a trail down to the river, and Lake Superior beach access is just a few miles up the road. We also offer a very large and level gravel area with plenty of room for parking and unloading trailers for those of you who are visiting us to snowmobile or ATV/side by side on the local trails! If youre looking to rent, Hamilton’s North Coast rents sleds and atvs. We cannot wait for you to join us at the oar’asis on your next trip to Upper Michigan!
**We fully respect your privacy during your stay, but we do stop by occasionally to water the outdoor plants, plow snow and take the garbage out for collection. Thank you for understanding!**

The host Heidi was wonderful. She went above and beyond to get things back on track.
There was a few hiccups with missing information from the Vrbo company. But after contacting Heidi (Host), she sincerely apologized and very quickly got things back on track. The place was as pictures showed. Very warm and inviting. We were graciously greeted with delicious muffins and sweets. We very much enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately, due to unpredictable weather/storm coming in we had to leave a day early. We definitely will be back again. Next time perhaps when it is warmer and we can totally check all out more. We did go to Agate Beach and did some rock hounding, along with stopping at a quaint restaurant and rock shop. The young man we talk to was very interesting and we learned a lot from him. We definitely look forward to our next return. Thank you Heidi for all your kindness. ❤️ See you again soon! Dorene

This cabin is awesome! Its more spacious than the pictures show and it has a great location close to the lake, the porkies and restaurants. The hosts, Heidi and Gary, they are the most welcoming and thoughtful hosts you could ever ask for. If you're considering booking this cabin do it, you won't regret it!

Amazing Cabin and Hosts!
My boyfriend, sister, brother-in-law, and I stayed at the Oar'Asis the first weekend of October - the communication with the hosts and the cabin were amazing! Anytime that we had any questions the hosts were very prompt with their responses and were super helpful. The hosts even made us delicious muffins and dog treats for my mom's and aunt's poodles (both homemade)! The cabin felt just like home and made our hikes even better knowing that we could come back to such an amazing place to stay :) Our group had so much fun playing with the dart board in the entryway! The cabin was super well furnished and had everything you could want - the hosts provided extra bathroom items in case anybody forgot anything, which is very thoughtful! I was super grateful that they had a desk in the bedroom so that I could get some studying done during the trip too. The property even had a great outdoor fireplace and the hosts provided some firewood too! The cabin and our hosts made the stay so wonderful and we hope to be back next year!

Lots of attention to detail with amenities. We were out all day every day but a sweet place to come back to. Cooking a bit of a challenge in tiny kitchen but as long as you keep up with the dishes the dearth of counter space merely quaint! Really comfortable bed.

Wonderful Stay and Great Location
Although a small cabin, four adults were very comfortable. The cabin was very clean and stocked well. Heidi went out of her way to provide every amenity you could think of for both the kitchen and toiletries. Some suggestions were made for additional window screens and a picnic table which was accepted with enthusiasm so I anticipate this will happen. The location was great. We enjoyed the local Green Beach and restaurants.in town. Porcupine Mountains, waterfalls and other beaches for rock hunting all within a short to hour long drive. I forgot my pillow and Heidi immediately mailed it back to me. Highly recommend this stay.

Floodwood was our oasis!
Heidi and Gary couldn't do any better than they've done to set up and share this adorable cabin! This really has been the best stay we've ever had as a family. Our son loved his own bedroom and we loved the upstairs oasis for ours. Every little detail has been put into both decorating and stocking this perfect vacation home! We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds in the morning and having dinner around the firepit at night. The access to the public beach (2mi away) and the Porkies (10 min away) were perfect as well!

Relaxing vacation
We had a great stay at Heidi and Gary’s cottage! The bed was very comfortable and the shower is awesome! Heidi has amenities around the house such as coffee, different creamers, extra toiletries if needed, beach towels etc…. They also have hummingbird feeders that attract at least 6 hummingbirds and it’s pretty cool! We drank coffee in the morning and watched them flit around. We used the fire pit at night and managed to catch the Northern Lights 2 nights in a row!! The house is close to town and not too far from the Porkies!! Perfect location and we already booked again for next year!!

Great place to stay
This cabin was perfect for our family! It was cute, private, clean and had so many wonderful little touches. The fire pit was perfect in the evenings, the yard was spacious for my children to run around in, and was fun to explore. It’s perfectly located to explore much of the area. We were close to the porcupine mountains, Bond and Agate falls, and Copper Harbor was only a 2 hour drive from here. We felt were easily able to access all that we wanted to explore! Heidi is nice and fantastic with communication. You can tell she loves this cabin and wants you to have a relaxing and wonderful stay.

Gary & Heidi were great - making sure we were comfortable & taken care of! Even left us some Blueberry Crepe & Wine upon our arrival - delicious snack & arrival bonus! EXCEPTIONAL IN EVERY RESPECT
This cabin is priceless! The location is remarkable - situated on a small river and just across the highway from Lake Michigan. Easy proximity to Porcupine Mountains, which is heaven on earth. The cabin itself is thoughtfully appointed. Actually, it is immaculately appointed. The owners have thought of EVERY detail. The beds are so comfortable that I plan to ask the owner the name of the brand. Every possible detail is included with this facility. The outside landscaping is pristine. The cabin's interior is extremely well decorated. I cooked several meals there - the kitchen is terrific! If you want to visit the Porcupine Mountains or anything else in the area, this cabin is your ticket to peaceful, comfortable, brilliant lodging!

Excellent Peaceful Cabin
Very clean cabin located on a peaceful piece of property. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by some welcome treats. Heidi had contacted us to make sure we arrived and got in the cabin ok and if we needed anything don't hesitate to contact her. There was plenty of room for the two of us with space to spare. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, loved the shower head, and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds outside by the feeder. The cabin is located pretty close to the Porkies in one direction and close to downtown Ontonagon in the other direction. I had the pleasure of meeting Heidi during our stay and really enjoyed our conversation. Thank you Heidi and Gary for making this an enjoyable stay with all your extra touches.

We loved our time at this cute cabin in Ontonagon Mi! The cabin was equipped with absolutely everything you could think of to make stay enjoyable. We visited the Porcupine Mountains and went waterfall hunting. We also rode some of the ATV trails, which were a short drive (trailered) to reach. Many memories were made. It was a wonderful weekend getaway, one that we will share with whoever will listen! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us.

Hummingbird Heaven
My son, daughter in law and I go on a hiking trip in the UP every year. This year we selected the Porcupine Mountains. I selected the Oar’Asis cabin for our home base - perfect size, location and price. We were not disappointed - the cabin is absolutely adorable. Our hostess, Heidi, left the door open & lights on for our arrival, which was a bit late in the day. The clean, comfortable beds felt great after a day of traveling. In the morning Heidi greeted us with a pan of delicious blueberry crepes, powdered sugar and real maple syrup. I’ve never had a host do that! There are musical instruments and games for every age & ability, the tiny kitchen is well stocked. But the best feature was watching the hummingbirds around the feeders. One little guy stayed on a perch almost 24/7 - we called him our “guard bird”. Truly a peaceful, magical place for anyone who loves a quiet retreat surrounded by nature.

Just returned from a wonderful weekend at Heidi and Gary's cabin. We were driving in during a big snowfall & ultimately had to delay our arrival, but Heidi and Gary had everything prepped for us & were so communicative and accommodating. The cabin itself is very cozy and warm in the winter months, with a perfectly stocked kitchen. Heidi and Gary have sprinkled lovely personal touches throughout the cabin which make the trip a extra delight. Thanks again!
