I arranged in good faith to stay in this TraveLodge location last night, based on advertised "good" rating. It is NOT ready for customers! Here are some reasons: 1. Our room (223) had a pervasive dirty smell. 2. The lounge chair was stained and dirty. 3. The HVAC unit was dirty. 4. The curtains were wrinkled. 5. The soaps were small dry chips. 6. The shower head was partially blocked with corrosion. 7. Active structural repairs were being carried out by a disreputable-appearing person. 8. There were no paper towels or hand dryer in the front office area public restroom. 9. The swimming pool was shut down-- and a mess, with rain water in the bottom that appeared to be breeding mosquitoes. 10. The "breakfast" that was offered could barely be described as "continental". 11. The breakfast area was NOT being properly tended to! For example- the main waste container was left smeared with some kind of syrup. 12. None of the staff we dealt with could speak English very well....This property in its current condition and the way it's being run could NOT pass a proper health department inspection-- much less a critical assessment by Wyndham or Expedia!! ... I'd be happy to directly discuss our concerns with the owners, Wyndham, and/or with Expedia! As it now stands, I would NOT recommend this facility at ANY price for safety, comfort, OR general satisfaction to ANY traveler! Thank you! Sincerely, Dr. Sam Williams, Salem, VA
