Good location, 10 to 15 minute walk from train station and the funicular and has a good view of the hilltop city of Orvieto from below. The included breakfast was fine.

The owner, who oversees, handles the billing, serves the meals, and takes care of all issues, really makes this place worthwhile to stay in. He cares deeply.

Ok value for the price.
We chose this hotel because of it’s proximity to the train station. It was .6 of a mile. Doable with luggage. The rooms were clean, and dated. The air conditioner did not work and there were no screens on the window. Breakfast was typical Italian fare. The location was near a number of restaurants.

Friendly people, hotel and rooms were a little dated but comfortable and clean. Very nice food in the restaurant. Handy to the train station and funicular to the old town.

Very noisy near train station. Came in after midnight from Rome, unable to access hotel to get to room. Fortunately after calling a few times, someone woke up & let us in.

Classic old-world charm
Hotel Umbria was a wonderful stay! The owner was so attentive and gracious. Breakfast was substantial and beautifully presented. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. Good wifi connection! No parking provided, but available on street overnight.

Good location near the train station, clean room and good breakfast. The Wi-Fi signal was not very good. Overall recommended, especially because of the location - it's much more comfortable to stay near the train station downhill and travel with the funicular to the old town uphill

Missed opportunity
The trains were on strike leaving Florence. I was unable to get to Orvieto where this hotel was. I tried to phone but no one spoke English. I was charged for staying here. I truely wish I could have. Then I would've made an accurate rating

Not your chain hotel
When we checked in we were given a room with 1 double bed and no balcony. I went to the desk to get the room changed to 2 beds and a balcony, no problem. The problem was the air did not work but after several tries by the desk man to get it working , he called a maintance man and all was working in short order. The food was quite good. All an all it was a good value for the price.

cute departure from our 4 star agenda
cute....one man show.... typical 3 star... maybe 2.5... but right in the town, across from a supermarket..... cute and different from all the 4 stars we stayed in... If you want towels or pillows, we suggest you learn the Italian words. My efforts to show myself being dried off was received as an offer to dance....

Orvieto hotel - great place but a bit noisy where situated.
Hotel Umbria is a beautiful older hotel with very easy access to Orvieto. A big plus of our room was the lovely balcony and controllable air coditioning; minus was the proximity to a very busy street below and the concommitant noise. Another plus was the great restaurant in the hotel: we had an excellent dinner (try the tagliatelle con cinghiale - YUM!).

Ho provato per cambiare hotel in zona, per me deludente per quanto riguarda: tv con programmi visibili a pezzi, camera fredda con riscaldamento spento di notte, bagno senza piatto doccia, colazione poco fornita. Non ho potuto provare il ristorante. Peccato perché persona gentile in reception e disponibile.
