Staff was great. Every time I had a question, (and I had a lot) they bent over backward to help. I do wish they offered a shuttle to/from the metro. When you get off the train, it’s a 10-15 min walk uphill in the cold to return to the hotel. Also, I wish we had more dining options, but the free breakfast is a full breakfast which is nice. It just gets pretty chaotic in the morning and wait times for buffet items were quite long. All of this to say, I liked the hotel. The staff was warm and friendly.

Fantastic scenic view overlooking Oslo. Lovely hotel in a quiet area with easy walkable hikes or short train ride to ski destination. Great transport link directly to Oslo in 30mins by train a 5 mins walk from the hotel. Oslo airport 1hr by train.

The location is absolutely fantastic with a view of all of Oslo. The staff is friendly, service oriented and reacts immediately to any request. Breakfast was just fantastic.

The tv was not working (picture came on but not clear so couldn’t watch). Opposite rooms had view into my room and vice-versa. Coffee machine queues not well organised (black coffee should be in a separate line to avoid queue).

Lovely views and great little bistro. Getting to metro was an easy walk even with suitcases. Rooms were not large but space enough for 2. Shower set up makes it hard to keep dry things dry in the lav. And the pool was out of order when we showed up to take advantage of a spa afternoon. No one mentioned at the time of our booking that they’d had trouble with it all week. Breakfasts were grand and sumptuous and the property has a great lodge vibe. Would be ideal for a wedding or corporate event.

The views that this hotel has are some of the best for and of Oslo. It achieves this by being up on the mountainside, but if you are good with walking slopes, this should not be an issue.

A Return to Holmenkollen
Historic yet modernized hotel, now run by Scandic, since our last stay 12 years ago. Underground paid parking vs former outdoor free parking, wonderful buffet breakfast included, but our only dinner option when we were traveling, was an expensive buffet (FYI). Beautiful view, walking distance to the tram to downtown Oslo. Nicely appointed, peaceful stay.

A quaint property! Loved the hotel building and the views of the valley/city/waters below. The room was quite large and comfortable. Also loved that it was close to the ski jump.

Lovely view and really nice hotel and nice breakfast but big hike up from the metro biggest disappointment was having to pay £55 for family to use the very average pool facilities which wasn’t clear when booking and it was main reason for booking as it looked good in photos should be free for paying guests with the price of the stay out of the whole trip between Copenhagen, Oslo and Malmo this was the biggest waste of money .

The property will welcome you with an amazing panoramic view of Oslo area and behind it is the Skimuseet, if you are interested to see it you can just walk. If you don’t drive, taxi is your best option, you can take their tram but it’s a bit of a walk downhill.

The best views over oslo
I highly recommend this hotel for visitors to Oslo who want a view of the city that’s unbeatable. Great service, lots of facilities, a fantastic gym, have yet to sample the spa as it’s an additional amount to enter which was slightly disappointing. Overall though it’s great, I’ve stayed on more than one trip and will recommend to others
