The space
Our log cabin sits on over 2 acres of private wooded land in Otto, North Carolina which is tucked in the Blue Ridge Mountains between Franklin, NC and Clayton, GA. We want you to enjoy your vacation and your visit to the Western North Carolina mountains.

The home is fully furnished, all you need to bring are your clothes. All linens, towels, standard kitchen items, etc.. are provided for your convenience.

This is a 28x36 completely handcrafted rustic log home consisting of three levels of living space.

The main level consists of a fully stocked kitchen, with a dining area and seating for 10, a half bath, laundry room, living space with sofa bed that can sleep 2, and a large wraparound deck to enjoy the outdoors.

The upper level includes a reading nook, a large master bedroom with a large walk-in closet, open bathroom with stone shower, and also has a private deck, which you will find very peaceful in the mornings and evenings.

The basement level consists of one full bath, one large bedroom with a day bed that sleeps 1-2 and a bunk bed that sleeps 2. The basement also has one large living area with a sleeper sofa and space for an inflatable mattress, if you choose. There are two exits in the basement level leading to another deck, yard area, and fire pit.

This is a rustic handcrafted real log cabin with natural logs exposed in the kitchen/dining area that serve as the floor joist for the master bedroom. A large natural cedar post is the support for the upper landing off the master bedroom. A handcrafted half log staircase leads to the master bedroom.

All trim throughout the house is rough sawn hemlock lumber, all beams are exposed, and ceilings are exposed wood. The railing for the stairs and outside deck has cedar top and bottom rails, and locust with bark on pickets. The railing for the master bedroom is hand hewn white cedar logs. The main level is 8x8 square hemlock logs.

The home is heated with a Lennox signature series 3 ton heat pump zoned for the main level and basement. The master bedroom has a ½ ton mini-split heat pump unit. A wood pellet stove is located on the main floor for a secondary source of heat. You really must see this home to appreciate the craftsmanship, the privacy of the location, and ease of access. Within 7 miles of Franklin, NC and 5 miles to Dillard, GA, lots of local scenery, hiking, antique malls, and much more.

Smoking is not permitted in the home and is permitted outside but only 10 feet away from the home - this is a log cabin. Please pickup all trash.

Pets are permitted, but must be picked up after.

There is so much to do in the Smoky Mountains and this is the perfect place for your getaway!

Fall Getaway
Home was as shown in the listing, it was a true log cabin. The kitchen had everything one needs and the bed was very comfortable. If you follow the instructions about how to drive up the driveway, it is no problem. The added bonus was the circle drive that makes exiting very easy. This area, north Ga. southwest NC, had an amazing amount of things to do. I would highly recommend this property.

Great Value!
This size of the place and being pet-friendly was very attractive and did not disappoint. It was hot and sunny during our stay and the upstairs air conditioning was a bit weak - my wife and I are both warm sleepers so this was our only wish for better cooling. Otherwise, the place was great and we really enjoyed our time - the architecture of the interior and the porches make it a truly relaxing escape!

Nice cabin!
Cabin was great! Beautiful wood throughout! Kitchen was really great: hot water quickly delivered from faucet, large work areas, full fridge, electric stove. Location was close to everything but still far out enough to have plenty of privacy. The only downside was the upstairs Master Bedroom A/C couldn't keep up with the summer heat. We planned on extending our stay but decided against it because of the A/C. This would be a Beautiful place in the Fall or Winter. We plan to return.

Great home for the price. It was located a short drive from Franklin NC and Clayton GA, which are both great towns to park and walk around in. When we arrived, the power was out in the area and the host were quick to respond to us and stayed in contact with us until the power was restored in the area. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

Beautiful Cabin
If I were building a log cabin it would look like this! Large yet cozy. Very comfortable. Also there were some issues that I though the owner should be aware of and when I brought them to his attention he responded almost immediately and was so grateful for the information provided. Overall, really good experience for my family.

This cabin was centrally located for the things we wanted to do
The cabin was great! However the pots were not usable for us and we like to cook at home. They were old Teflon that was peeling. I would have rathered to have been told to bring our own pots but no problem, we bought a cheapie and just left it. The other issue was the faucet in the master shower was positioned wrong so to shower you had to soap down and remove the head and rinse off… an easy fix! Other than these 2 minor issues this cabin was a 10!!! We will definitely recommend it to anyone going to that area. We love the outdoors so it’s perfect and perfectly private!!! Oh the WI-FI was great too!

Beautiful and secluded cabin
The cabin is situated in a scenic part of the highlands, well off the busy Georgia road but close enough to allow fast travel to multiple state parks. We were thrilled by the spacious interior and the copious deck space. Comfortable Adirondack chairs, the propane grill and three bathrooms were a plus as well. We would absolutely stay again!

Great dog friendly cabin
We loved staying in this cabin. It had everything we needed and is in a great location. Our dog stayed too and that was an added bonus. My only recommendation is, because it is a dog friendly cabin, to include dog friendly places/things to do in your book. That would be an added bonus!!! We will stay again!

Okay place, would not come back.
The "bones" of the house were nice, as you can see from the photos. The location is indeed fairly private. The hosts were fine, and the pellet stove was nice. However, we had a lot of minor issues with the place that became a real issue when viewed cumulatively. --The place was superficially clean, but all of the "soft" items in the house (excluding towels, but including couches, bedding, rugs) were dingy, stained, and smelly/greasy. Like when someone's had big dogs on their stuff for years. --Numerous wood-boring insects infest the wooden master bed frame, creating audible munching sounds at night. --Deferred maintenance on the slow upstairs shower drain has caused severe cracking in the shower floor concrete. You shower in a growing puddle water on bits of broken concrete. The shower must last less than 5 minutes, otherwise it spills out onto the floor, raining down into the dining area below. --The dryer is broken; everything needed to be draped to dry. --Only one of three bathrooms had a door (no lock), and it's in the kids' room downstairs. The bathroom off the dining area has only a curtain. If there are kids in your group, it's nighttime, and you have to go #2, things get pretty intimate for the dining room. --The kitchen is poorly stocked. No cutting boards with resulting dull knives, tiny toaster, few utensils, etc. --The fire pit is on an incline, which reveals itself as a problem when you try to find a place to sit, or if there are kids in your group (fall risk on the upslope), or if you try to make s'mores (everything rolls). --Downstairs sliding door does not lock. Possibly not an issue if this were your own residence and you knew your neighbors, but uncomfortable for someone new to the area. --The check-out process felt burdensome, e.g. hosts only supply one trash can and expect you to drive any extra bags of trash to the dump yourself. You do most of your own cleaning. It's not a bad place. For an outdoorsy, super low-maintenance person with big dogs who identifies the above as "rustic," you won't have any issues. For someone looking for a base camp for visiting Highlands, who identifies the above as "poorly maintained," keep looking.
