Your vacation get-a-way will take place on a
landscape of lush gardens that is beautiful & fenced - 1.5 acres. Pick avocado, lilikoi passion fruit, cocoa pods, & more when in season! The forest is tranquil & relaxing as you gather on an outside & connected screened-in lanai (porch) which is also one of the kitchen areas! Guests love the soft lighting, quaint Hawaiian decor, & home-feeling!
We are located on the east side of the Big Island which is often called the Eastern - Hilo Side & known for lush jungles, Rainbow & Akaka Waterfalls, Maku'u Farmer's Market, Volcano National Park (45 minutes away), Bio-Reserve Botanical Garden, & 4 miles of beaches near Hilo Bay! Richardson Beach in Hilo is a popular turtle sighting beach and Carl Smith nearby including tidal pools & lagoons for pristine snorkeling!
We are 45 minutes from Volcano National Park with lava flowing now! & only 4 miles from Pahoa, HI which has many restaurants, rustic storefronts, and a magical presence!
Some say the east/Hilo side is the rainy side compared to the west/Kona side, but after living here for 3 years, there truly is sunshine everyday!
You will end up driving to the east side if you are staying in Kona, planning some side with us is a great mix of east and west. Plenty of sun to view all highlights of the east side! The tranquil rains at night & the coqui frogs will sing you to sleep!
We live 4 miles from Pahoa Village in a rural jungle setting that is super private & tranquil. The gardens on property are beautiful & the new screened in kitchen/lanai is amazing for nightly gatherings with soft lighting & great seating!
When proceeding down the long treed driveway with multiple palms & flowers lining the way, you will feel like you are in a Jurassic Park movie! The maturity of the coconut palms, lip-stick palms,
Ohia-Lehua Trees, & multiple others are astounding and thick!
Nature is blooming everywhere & many guests love walking the driveway, property and paths to explore all the fruit trees!. Fruit that grows on property includes; avocados, passion fruit, limes, oranges, lemons, coconut and cacao. Depending on the season some or all may be in season for picking and eating - all included in your stay! Ever use an Avocado picker? Its fun!
You have access to 4 bedrooms - two large rooms with king beds, two with queens plus a full bed. Sleep space for 12 w/extra space in great room on two large comfortable couches and a blow up queen mattress.

Queen air mattress available upon request which can be set up in great room with 84” Smart TV.
2 large couches sleep-able as well just ask for extra bedding!
Netflix included!
Please be aware of rock/dirt & gravel road which is 100 % safe to drive. It can be driven by all vehicles but a vehicle with a higher clearance may be preferred by mainland guests.
A Jeep is NOT needed :) unless you want to go to the top of Mauna Kea or some access roads to beaches that many tourists do not venture to as there are multiple beaches with easy access!
Kitchen #2 located in yellow / red room with king bed and connected bathroom! Stove and electric stove top, fridge and microwave as well! This bedroom leads out to another private screened in lanai with seating for 6 and nearby the other screened lanai!
Spaces for stay include a large living room with wall mounted 84” Smart TV, outside lanai with seating up to 12, access to outdoor kitchen on covered lanai, backyard gazebo, trails in the woods, additional outdoor seating, and plenty of parking space.
Large gazebo not far from outdoor screened lanai - two hammock seats, two large comfy outdoor seats, table that seats 4! Enjoy the Wi-fi speaker, fan, and lighting for nighttime gatherings.
Wi-Fi is a newly updated Fiber-optic connection. Sometimes due to unknown weather and/or storm conditions, upgrades, electrical outages; Wi-Fi can be paused or buffer but not common.
We zoom with daily success.
Owners live on 2nd story of home with no children. There is a Malti-poo who lives with owners. 100! Friendly. We respect the privacy of our guests and we are quiet.

A Slice of Tropical Paradise
Our family of 8 adults and 1 toddler slept comfortably at Denise and Brian's lovely place. You can immediately tell they put a lot of thought to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Denise also did a load of our laundry which we greatly appreciated! As a heads up, you're in a tropical forest so there will be mosquitos! Overall, highly recommend and would love to stay again if we're ever back.

Amazing rainforest retreat
We absolutely loved our stay. The location is a little remote but honestly for me I loved that aspect of it. We traveled with a family group of 10 (4 adults in 40's 4 adults kids 24-26, and 2 teenagers) the house had more than adequate room. When we were there and not out exploring we spent lots of time on the screened in lanai playing games, talking and drinking coffee. The house is well equipped with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay plus extras. The host Brain and Denise are AMAZING! They made sure we had everything we needed, gave lots of tips on places to see, things to do and yummy places to eat. We had a great time chatting with them. My only reservation when I was looking to book this place initially was owners being on the property as we were a large group with kids and did not want to feel like we had to stay quiet or worry about bothering them, Please do not let that denture you at all. We will definately be back! There was a gazebo with coconut painting, hammock chairs, more fresh avocados than we could eat. I could go on forever. We seriously loved this place!

Great place!
This is a beautiful place where you can truly get away from it all. The location is in a great place for a bunch of exploration. There are some great stores in restaurants nearby, and it isn’t a long drive to downtown Hilo. The hosts are amazingly helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay.

A little piece of paradise
You went over and above to make sure that we had the best time on your beautiful island. There was more that enough space for our group of 9. We spent time everyday in the covered gazebo in the back. It is hard to describe the lovely yard, the trees and little critters. You need to see it for yourself. The half and full day excursions that you have planned help out with sightseeing. You always took the time to make sure that we had everything that we needed. I would highly recommend this location if you are ever going to the big island.

Amazing property!
As a long time VRBO traveler, I've seen the good, bad, and the ugly. This property was one of my favorites. The owners were just wonderful. Quick communication, lots of suggestions, and very accommodating. Very engaging to our group, but never encroached on our time or the space. The property and space was simply beautiful. I wish we would have stayed longer so we could have spent more time exploring the grounds. A rainforest full of lovely flowers, plants, and fruit trees. The road and driveway might be a bit daunting to some, but I can assure you that if you take it slow, you'll be fine. We had no issues with our 12 passenger van. Our 9 person, multigenerational party loved the inside space. A/C in two of the bedrooms, as well as fans in all rooms. There was a nice cross breeze with the windows open for the other bedrooms. Screened in semi-outdoor kitchen was spacious and well appointed with everything you need for a short or long term stay. The space was immaculate. TLDR: Stay here. You won't regret it. Within 60 mins of all of the things you want to see on the windward side of the Big Island.

Nice house in pretty forest
Very clean and nice settings. I love their sunroom and back yard. Owners are very nice and helpful. It is a great place for family or friends traveling. My kids love this house and would like to visit again. A little hard to drive to if it is raining. Regular car may hit its bottom by the bumpy dirt road outside.

Excellent place to stay
Location is a little remote but great to be surrounded by nature. Hosts Denise and Brian were the best! They had some beach supplies for us and great information packets with places to see around the area. There were 10 of us and they made it easy for us. Plenty of rooms/beds for a large group. Everything is labelled for ease of use. The hosts made sure we had everything we needed and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. . As a warning if you have TMobile that area didn't get good signal, but there was WiFi for guests to use. There is also a small stretch of road that is a bit rough. It is drivable just make sure your car has good clearance. Would definitely come back!!
